Baldimor asking to much
According to some websites Carlos Baldomir is asking for to much money to fight Hatton, so that might put the fight in doubt.
Ray Hatton has said that they are going to try once more before looking at other options.
He also said that because of PR apperances Ricky Hatton is 2 weeks down on his training, he usually likes 12 weeks of preperation, but has missed out on the start.
Can't see how thats good for Ricky as he always has quite a bit of weight to get off before his fights. Any time lost in training means he will have to condense his wieght loss plans.

I am sure he will go with the GBP offer. Think about it, DLH is going to be happy to pay him over the odds for his first fight so he can get a shot at the linear welterweight title if he beats Mayorga. And Baldomir's purse against DLH will surely be higher than anything Hatton or Gatti's people are offering? He just has to beat Antonio Diaz first who is pretty shot.

Next foe for Hatton still a mystery

HERALD NEWS
NEW YORK -- Ricky Hatton had more important plans for Monday.
The 140-pound champion weighs about 170, so the unbeaten British boxing star should've been in England, beginning a 12-week training camp for a May 13 fight that Hatton hopes marks his coming out party on American soil. Hatton had to be in Manhattan, though, where he will participate Wednesday in a hearing directly related to his squabble with his former promoter, allegedly. The influential English promoter, with whom Hatton split following his career-changing victory over heavily favored former junior welterweight king Kostya Tszyu on June 4, is trying to force Hatton to make a mandatory defense of his World Boxing Association title against France's Souleymane M'baye.
Since Hatton (40-0, 30 KOs) refused to continue working with Warren because "some things happened that made me begin to question the relationship," Warren has explored every imaginable measure to force the television-friendly fighter he carefully constructed into a great gate attraction into continuing to box beneath his promotional umbrella. Warren signed M'baye (33-1, 18 KOs) a skilled fighter, who has lost only to Vivian Harris, only after Hatton dumped him. Hatton insists his contract with Warren expired after he beat Tszyu (31-2, 25 KOs, 1 NC), a fight for which Hatton made more than $2 million, but still about $3 million less than the Australian star he forced to quit after 11 rough rounds in Manchester.
"He has sued my father (manager Ray Hatton)," Hatton said of a libel lawsuit Warren filed. "He is continuously claiming that he has a contract and he is basically trying to hit me from all angles. It's very disruptive, when all I want to do is get on with the boxing."
The affable, humble Hatton will get on with the boxing one way or the other after Wednesday's proceedings, during which successful boxing attorney Judd Burstein will represent M'baye. If a judge rules in the Frenchman's favor, Hatton indicated he still won't want to meet M'baye in May. If he is to become Britain's biggest crossover star since flamboyant featherweight Prince Naseem Hamed, M'baye probably doesn't possess the marquee value Hatton seeks in his next opponent.
Worse yet, M'baye works with Warren, the situation Hatton is trying to avoid.
"Let's say, for argument's sake, there was no conflict between me and Warren," Hatton said. "I wouldn't want to box M'baye anyway, regardless of the conflict with allegedly. My next goal in boxing is to become established in the United States, and I don't think M'baye is going to help to do that. ... HBO or Showtime, whichever television network I work with here in the States, they're not going to want (to broadcast an M'baye match). He might be a nice guy for all I know, but if the judge was to rule against me, I feel it would damage my career because I don't feel like M'baye is an opponent people will want to see me fight."
Hatton, 27, would ideally like to challenge Carlos Baldomir, the newly crowned World Boxing Council welterweight champ. But Baldomir (42-9-6, 12 KOs) priced himself out of a proposed fight against undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. by reportedly asking for $2 million. Baldomir made only $100,000 for fighting Zab Judah on Jan. 7 in The Theatre at Madison Square Garden, where the 16-to-1 underdog upset Judah by unanimous decision.
Judah (34-3, 25 KOs, 1 NC), a Brooklyn-bred boxer that resides in Teaneck, will still meet Mayweather (35-0, 24 KOs) in an April 8 pay-per-view showdown in Las Vegas. So Baldomir's options probably have been narrowed to the May 13 Hatton bout at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn., and a fight against Gatti at Boardwalk Hall on an undetermined day in July. Hatton, who repeatedly referred to Gatti Monday as one of his boxing "idols," wouldn't mind boxing Baldomir and then Hoboken's Gatti, if they both beat their next opponents.
"People like Gatti and Baldomir, those fights are going to establish my reputation over here and, hopefully, eventually build to a fight with Mayweather," said Hatton, who is co-promoted by Philadelphia's Art Pelullo and England's Dennis Hobson. "It would be disrespectful to (Baldomir) to say he got lucky against Zab Judah, but he wasn't expected to win that fight. He did, and obviously he's going to want to cash in. But from his point of view, it would be a great incentive (to fight me), because he beat the man who beat the man at welterweight. And then he could fight me, the No. 1 man at 140 as well. So it's a great prospect for him."
Bypassing Baldomir for fast financial gratification against Gatti doesn't interest Hatton because of his lifelong love affair with soccer. Hatton joked Monday that his son, 5-year-old Campbell, actually said, "Manchester City," before he said, "Dad." All kidding aside, though, soccer is the reason Hatton doesn't want to either fight in June or spend the month training for a July fight against Gatti (40-7, 31 KOs).
Even the wildly popular Hatton would be buried by World Cup coverage among British media outlets. And truthfully, Hatton wants to watch the World Cup with a beer in his hand, not with gloves on his hands while training for a fight. He intends to attend England's games in Germany, too.
Nevertheless, if he doesn't box Baldomir on May 13, Hatton will remain at 140 pounds for his next fight.
Brooklyn's Harris, a former WBA champ, actually crashed an intimate media meeting at a midtown restaurant Monday, just to remain in Hatton's consciousness. They shook hands as Harris left after finishing lunch with a business associate and Hatton acknowledged that he would consider facing Harris next if the Baldomir bout doesn't materialize. Harris (26-2-1, 17 KOs) lost his title to Colombian underdog Carlos Maussa on the Gatti-Mayweather undercard on June 25, six months before Hatton knocked out Maussa (20-3, 18 KOs) to win the WBA belt in Sheffield, England.
Hatton also mentioned all-action WBA lightweight champ Juan Diaz (28-0, 14 KOs) as a possible opponent, but the University of Houston student is expected to participate in a rematch against Mongolian mandatory challenger Lavka Sim (21-4-1, 18 KOs). Diaz defeated Sim by unanimous decision to win the WBA's 135-pound crown 19 months ago in Houston. Their rematch was scheduled for March 3 in Los Angeles, but promoter Dan Goossen canceled the FOX Sports Net show for logistical reasons.
Hatton, however, has a firm date, considerable interest from boxing's biggest cable outlets and a genuine appreciation of his new star status. While he acknowledged he couldn't become more popular in England after topping Tszyu, he seemed sincerely flattered by being recognized in Times Square over the last few days.
"I never thought," Hatton said, "that it would ever get like this."

I hadn't even thought about Delahoya, has an offer been made from GBP (I thought you meant Great British Pounds meaning Hatton when I first read that lol)? I think I'd prefer DLH been champ to Gatti - which would make a mess of the division - how can Gatti be the man when Mayweathers in his division.nickd wrote:I am sure he will go with the GBP offer. I see boxrec has Diaz down as a May opponent for Baldomir.

Hmm, I'm really starting to wonder about Hatton's wisdom here.
He wants to fight Baldomir and Gatti, these are hardly defining fights. I know Gatti is box office, but he got destroyed by Mayweather already and is nearing the end of a very long hard career.
As for Diaz, what is he doing talking about fighting Diaz for?
I'm becoming a bit dissilusioned about the prospects of seeing Hatton in a fight against someone who is actually a threat.
If the Baldomir fight falls through, who is he going to fight who will actually be acceptable the cable network?

Not a fight I'd pick if I were managing Hatton, but from a fans viewpoint I'd definitely pay to see him take on Vivian Harris.
If the Argie is out, they'll be looking closely at Harris now - a fight that should make them a bit nervous. Not much to gain here, and everything to lose: Harris would be well up for this and can really crack with the right hand.

I read somewhere that Golden Boy Promotions had offered Baldomir a 2 fight deal, to fight Antonio Diaz on the DLH v Mayorga undercard then if they both win he will fight DLH. If there is any truth in that then that has to be the way he will go.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:I hadn't even thought about Delahoya, has an offer been made from GBP (I thought you meant Great British Pounds meaning Hatton when I first read that lol)? Well if Diaz is down as Baldomirs next opponent it sounds likely that DLH has won the bid to be linear at Welter. Looks like PBF will be fighting a nobody if he beats Judah to bide his time waiting for the superfight wil DLHnickd wrote:I read somewhere that Golden Boy Promotions had offered Baldomir a 2 fight deal, to fight Antonio Diaz on the DLH v Mayorga undercard then if they both win he will fight DLH. In his last fight Hatton said he wasn't as motivated as he could have been, give him another similar fight then thats when mistakes can happen.
The preperation for this one just has a bad look to it for me.

From ESPN.
Baldomir weighs offers: Welterweight champ Carlos Baldomir, whose biggest purse was the $100,000 he earned in his Jan. 7 upset of Zab Judah, is going to make much, much more than that the next time he fights. Baldomir and promoter Sycuan Ringside Promotions are weighing three significant offers.
Several offers are on the table for Baldomir. One deal on the table is for Baldomir to defend against Arturo Gatti in July, and Main Events has already offered a package worth about $1.4 million plus the TV rights in Baldomir's native Argentina.
The camp of junior welterweight champ Ricky Hatton, who intends to fight in May but has no opponent yet, has made an offer in the $1.5 million neighborhood plus the TV rights in Argentina. Hatton has said in the British media that he is interested in fighting Baldomir.
Another offer being considered is a two-fight deal from Golden Boy Promotions that would start with Baldomir earning $500,000 on the May 6 HBO PPV undercard of Oscar De La Hoya's fight with junior middleweight titlist Ricardo Mayorga. Opponents mentioned early in the discussions were Antonio Diaz, Ishe Smith, Craig Weber and Larry Mosley, but all were ruled out for one reason or another -- either they were unavailable or unacceptable by one of the sides.
The second fight of the Golden Boy proposal would call for Baldomir to fight in the fall with one scenario being a $2 million minimum to fight De La Hoya if he and Baldomir each win May 6. However, if De La Hoya opts not to fight Baldomir, Golden Boy Promotions would still guarantee $1.5 million for Baldomir to face another name opponent, possibly Shane Mosley if he defeats Fernando Vargas next week.

IMO, Hatton's heart is still in the game... I feel he's as determined as ever, maybe even more-so to become established, a legend etc.I don't think Hattons heart is in boxing anymore, its been said that he wants about 2 or 3 more big fights before calling it a day and the trouble with that is that when a fighter starts thinking retirement he has already partially retired... and that is when things often start to go wrong...
However, I am concerned that he's down on time already with regards to training. All this legal stuff is very disruptive to his routine. Ricky was to begin training 2days ago, and he also wanted to know who his opponent was too. None of this happened!
Ricky needs an extensive training camp to shift all the weight and be in the kind of shape he's always in for his fights. However, what price that he does NOT acutally fight in May & inacitve for longer than he wishes for?

I question if Ricky will ever match the level of stamina we saw when he fought Zoo, he trained with all his soul for that fight. Hes reached the mountain top with that win, and climbing up another mountain surely isn't as interesting to him. His performance against Maussa was average. Obviously you'd think he'd get up more for a big fight.
His options aren't looking great for his next fight if Baldomir falls through. Just looking at his other potential opponents who are available for that date.
Ben Rabah: Not a very attractive name.
M'Baye: Not if Ricky has anything to say about it.
Witter: Unlikely but probably the most attractive match of the bunch.
Harris: Too much risk for little reward, he won't get much credit for beating him due to the Maussa loss and stands a high risk of getting beaten himself and losing everything gained from the Tszyu win.
Gatti: Might be a good war but a bad match to make since Mayweather destroyed him. This potential match may disappear for the short term as well if Gatti lands the Baldomir fight over Hatton.
Mayweather, Cotto, Castillo, Corrales, Judah and Freitas are all tied up for that date and as far as I know that covers everyone on Hattons radar unless he surprises us and targets someone like Margarito which I think would be a great fight.

And what happened when Boldomir proced himself out of the mayweather fight?
"Oh Floyd is fighting Zab! blah blah, boldomir is the champ not zab, etc"
And what happens when Boldomir prices himself out of Hatton?
"Boldomir asking too much etc"
DOUBLE STANDARD.
I COMMEND Floyd for taking a HARDER fight against Zab Judah (the first fighter to equal his speed and maybe have more power). It's a much more dangerous fight for Floyd and I commend him for taking the challenge rather than face a guy that got lucky. Would you pick Boldomir against Zab in a rematch?
No.
Hatton wants to fight Boldomir, I didn't see him wanting to fight Judah when he was champion? wonder why he's stepping up now all of a sudden.
And he's going around STILL talking about Gatti (A lot of people will have egg on their faces if Hatton fights Gatti after what they said about Floyd fighting him).
The Hatton nutriders need to get REAL and look at the facts.

I think its between Baldomir (DLH/Gatti may outbid), a mando (small name Mbaiyes a danger Rabah certainly is not), Diaz (WBA lightweight), Gatti (if Baldo signs with DLH)
Good fights that won't happen but could:
Witter - Team Hatton said they'll give him a payday
Harris - I suspect they feel the same way
Margarito - 50-50 - not a huge reward
Good Unmentioned Opponents could be:
Stevie Johnson - Hatton needs to fight a slick cookie before he fights PBF, dangerous but Hatton would be a heavy favourate
Corley - see above
Lazcano - be a top fight - little money though
My moneys on Rabah or Diaz or Gatti (if Baldo signs with DLH)
