You could be right or the question could gave been asked tongue in cheek without any ulterior motive.

It is interesting though that the OP started this thread and made further comments without making reference to their own personal situation.

I would genuinely like to hear their thoughts on the subject from the perspective of somebody who has actually been in that situation (I bet there aren't many others on this site who have been in this situation)

Counter puncher was spot on in his assessment, it's not the first time the person has made an such comment about the named boxer, nor will it be the last, time he moved on, with regards to my own experience in a father and son team, I can confirm that it tends to be more extreme, good and bad, big bust ups, great pride, more emotional attachment, great joy, very protective, high opinion, yet never content, a love and hate relationship at times, but respect for each others abilities.

Theres extremes in both ends of the debate,
But from my own experience it can be extremely frustrating when working with a boxer whos looked after by their dad, especially when you dont think the advice is correct.
I think sometimes the Dad is more convinced of their ability than they should be and can cause them to be rushed along too quickly.
Likewise it can happen the opposite way and cause them to be overprotected.

So in conclusion on the balance of it i think its probably one of those things were it works on the extreme or fails on the extreme, when comparing to regular boxer/trainer/manager relations

Many boxers get ripped off and are pushed too early by managers and promoters who are not emotionally attached to the boxer, cold, hard business decisions that benefit the Manager or Promoter more then the Boxer, take place, rather then acting in the interests of the boxer, that's why father's get involved, because they see this. Nobody wants to see their son, punch drunk, mentally ruined and broke, after their boxing career.

thats also true, it shows that it is very difficult to strike the right balance
