Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I thought this card was being shown during the day but seems now its midnight after the Rigo/Dickens card, interesting fight,Singh's looked decent so far,not flawless but good enough i suppose,he's stopped everyone but hasnt fought anybody of note and doesnt look a big hitter,Hope isnt the fighter he was but its still a big step up from who Singh's been fighting so far,im sure the last time i seen Kerry was the O'Kane fight which was close but 3 years ago now,i know there was some controversy in his last fight where the decision went against him but was reversed in his favour so he still has something left im just not sure at what level
Hope will give it a go but i think Singh will be too fresh for him and stop him in round about the 8th

Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
Good bit of matchmaking for me. Hope has a pedigree of sorts, but he looks to be well past his best. Can see the naturally bigger Singh stopping Hope here.
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I was at the Hope OKane fight and I thought Hope was unlucky at the time but I've never watched it back. He has a good win against Proksa on his slate which was quite an upset at the time because Proksa was blowing everyone away. As you say though, Hopes best days are past and I expect Singh to have too much for him. I agree with you in it being a mid to late stoppagehandsofstone wrote:I thought this card was being shown during the day but seems now its midnight after the Rigo/Dickens card, interesting fight,Singh's looked decent so far,not flawless but good enough i suppose,he's stopped everyone but hasnt fought anybody of note and doesnt look a big hitter,Hope isnt the fighter he was but its still a big step up from who Singh's been fighting so far,im sure the last time i seen Kerry was the O'Kane fight which was close but 3 years ago now,i know there was some controversy in his last fight where the decision went against him but was reversed in his favour so he still has something left im just not sure at what level

Singh looked so much better as an amateur. When I first watched one of his pro fights I had to check to be sure he was the same guy I thought he was.
Hope is a good opponent for him at this stage.

Yeah the Proksa fight was a career best win for Hope, won the European in the process,Proksa steamrolled him in the rematch though ay,still a great achievement for someone with next to know powerStuarty30 wrote:I was at the Hope OKane fight and I thought Hope was unlucky at the time but I've never watched it back. Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
Totally off topic but I couldn't believe the transformation of Adonis Stevenson from a very flat footed fighter who could punch but little else to the counter puncher with pretty decent movement and boxing IQ under Steward.crusader wrote:Singh looked so much better as an amateur. Can't think of many other big changes in style like that.
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
But don't you remember, Adonis can't box at all, certainly not up to the level of the incredibly skilled and proven Tommy Williams Jr. (I hear that the Sr. is actually Gabriel Campillo)
I think when someone can punch people can be prone to discrediting their boxing skills,

Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
The CS is full of cretins. Its pretty obvious those comments came from a place of pure dislike for Stevenson because of prior crimes and also matchmaking decisions. They clearly wernt built on any kind of reason ....crusader wrote:But don't you remember, Adonis can't box at all, certainly not up to the level of the incredibly skilled and proven Tommy Williams Jr. (I hear that the Sr. is actually Gabriel Campillo)

Yes, I will say that while I'm critical of his matchmaking, I don't think Adonis gets enough credit for his ability. He would be live against Kovalev or Ward IMO, and assuming his form hasnt dropped much I'd take him over Beterbiev (overrated to me).

I think Beterbiev is awful TBH,great power but everything else is just mehcrusader wrote:Yes, I will say that while I'm critical of his matchmaking, I don't think Adonis gets enough credit for his ability. Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I feel the same way. It all depends on whether he's still got his legs or whether they're starting to leave him now at his advanced age for an athlete.crusader wrote:Yes, I will say that while I'm critical of his matchmaking, I don't think Adonis gets enough credit for his ability. He was already a late bloomer as it was really. It's disappointing for me because we could see him fight Kovalev eventually when he's already somewhat shot and get knocked out in bad fashion and then people will say "see Stevenson was a bum and Kovalev destroyed him like i always said he would!"
Not saying that wouldn't happen anyway but if it did happen and Stevenson's clearly had gone it would be sad wondering what if.
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I feel the same. He's physically strong and can punch for sure but his movement and balance looks horrendous to me.handsofstone wrote:I think Beterbiev is awful TBH,great power but everything else is just mehcrusader wrote:Yes, I will say that while I'm critical of his matchmaking, I don't think Adonis gets enough credit for his ability. Yep, he can punch for sure, but on the whole hes one of the more overrated fighters in the sport.

You know the drill with most boxing fans on CS though, scream high praise no matter how they look as long as their unbeaten and havent yet fought at world level, then once they challenge for a title, win or lose, get the daggers outcrusader wrote:Yep, one of the more overrated fighters in the sport.
Following the next undefeated boxer is like following fashion and just now Eastern Europeans are "In"
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I still haven't gotten around to watching Gvozdyk- is he as good Arum and some are building up to be in your opinions?
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
He's looked pretty good, but I'm not seeing a special talent. It wont surprise me if he becomes a legit top ten fighter, but I don't get the sense that he'll make major waves.
Earlyish days though

Is the fight being shown live or is it being repeated

The hype with prospects is unbearable.crusader wrote:He's looked pretty good, but I'm not seeing a special talent. It wont surprise me if he becomes a legit top ten fighter, but I don't get the sense that he'll make major waves.

Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
I was just thinking - Usyk is another for me that fits into that "not as good as he's hyped to be" Imo. I guess the Glowacki fight will tell us more though.

Wow pro boxing in India; I have to say it's the first I've heard of it. Bunny may be onto a winner here in terms of making coin if he can tap into that market fully.

Interestingly a day later a Pakistani prospect is in action in Korea, Muhammad Waseem. Interesting to follow those two men going forward

Did vijender stop him?
Re: Vijender Singh vs Kerry Hope
Singh points. Didn't view it, so not sure if it was fair
