Is Spence Jr. The Most Avoided Boxer NOW??

Post by caldo2025 »

Did Spence Jr take the "Most Avoided Boxer" title away from GGG now? Lemieux stepped up and now a Welterweight has decided that he's not scared of GGG. If Brook shows up fight night and steps through the ropes and gives GGG a fight, more and more fighters will consider facing GGG. GGG has some big fights on the table right now.

What does Spence Jr. have going on right now? Zip. After what he did to Algieri, I don't see anyone significant looking to deal with that anytime soon. It's sad and spotlights the pathetic state of matchmaking in Boxing. GGG spent many years wasting away because no one dared to fight him and I hate to say this but I think that Spence is about to experience the same but way worse. It sounds crazy to say but i think that Spence might be scarier than GGG because of all the tools, speed and relentless pressure he brings. The beating he put on Algieri was borderline torture and there was nowhere to hide.

Do you think any of the big names will step up and fight Spence in the next 3 years? I don't. No way.

ggg is still the most avoided, nobody wants the man. brook is a rare exception. funny thing is, i even think he has the athletic abilty to beat ggg, at least a chance.

rigondeaux is super avioded, more than spence. frampton, quigg, mares, nobody wants a sure loss against the most technical excellent boxer on earth.

Spence might be, but it is too early to tell. He hasn't even fought the best in his division yet. Just because Thurman ran like a bitch from him doesn't mean the whole division will.

The most avoided fighter at Welterweight was Kell Brook and I want to see Brook-Spence because it will be a classic matchup like Toney-McCallum. Brook vs Spence will be a battle for the ages, but thank Chris Eubank Sr that we won't be seeing that fight soon.. Eubank Sr wanted to hold up Eddie Hearn and dictate terms of a Golovkin fight for his son... Did Eubank Sr just want to get the massive publicity and then be impossible to deal with??? Now his kid looks bad, and he's a much better fighter than his dad -- one hell of a lot better hand speed and punching power for 2 things.. GGG-Eubank is 100 X better fight than GGG-Brook, but we never get the fights we want to see.. Now we're seening another 160-147 matchup.

I hope Thurman doesn't waste time with another Shawn Porter fight.. Porter is like Henry Armstrong with an extra head and an extra pair of hands.. Fighting that jackass is impossible.. Don't go through that frenetic brawling mess and shoving contest again. Fight Errol Spence.. Everybody wants to see Thurman-Spence.. That will be one of the great fights of all time.. Spence fights hard but fair. He doesn't head you or push you every 3 seconds and shove you all over the place.. and then back up for a minute until he gets another load of steam going so he can charge again.. Thurman-Spence will be an actual great boxing match and not a milling brawl.. But Thurman was a little concerned about fighting Porter.. He'll be more concerned about fighting Spence.

The problem is that none of the top WW's will sign on to fight him. No way. At some point, one of these commissions will want to have him as their champion and make him a mandatory. But we know how easy it is to wiggle out of mandatory defenses so time will tell with that. Maybe the winner of Crawford/Postol? That would be fantastic on paper but we know we are years away from seeing Spence in a significant fight.

Crawford vs Spence will be great, but a few years off I believe. Thurman already avoided Spence. Too bad it would have been good. Spence apparently was the only top welter that would have taken the Brook fight.

I don't think so... I think we're going to see something big happen with Errol Spence in the next year... He said he'd go to 154 to fight Canelo -- or will take on Thurman, Garcia, Brook, Khan, Bradley, Maidana, Pacquiao or "Whoever wants it" ... Basically anyone out there who's a top fighter.

No. He was beating up journeymen until 18 months ago. Rigo and GGG have been around for much longer and still struggle to get the best in their weight to fight them. Plus there is evidence of other fighters avoiding them. Right now Spence is an exciting contender with a couple of decent wins who may well get his shot in the next 6-12 months, can't compare that to the last 5 years of Rigo and GGG's careers.

He's yet to call out anyone who's avoided him as far as I know.

The top welters aren't stupid. They see what Spence brings. Big mouth tough guy Thurman didn't want it, and could have had a belt, but instead chose a semi-shot Collazo, who Khan had just beat the piss out of. Eddie Hearn said none of the top welters would sign to fight Brook.....except Spence. He's not a superstar just yet, but needs a chance to prove himself.

The top Welterweights aren't stupid... They're not gun-shy either... The guys ducking Spence are Pacquiao, Khan, Bradley, and Maidana... Thurman, Porter, and Brook are ready to fight him if the money is right -- which it WILL be.

Porter would fight Spence I think, but Thurman already bitched out. Brook? He is the real wildcard I think. Backs out of at least 3 fights that I know of against top contenders.......calls Khan out, beats Porter, then signs to fight GGG? The guy is all over the place. Not sure about him. I will be surprised if he gives GGG a challenge. Boxing orgs should be ashamed for sanctioning that kind of shit fight, imo. It won't be the size difference when GGG beats him down, but it is exactly what folks will blame it on.

They won't be able to blame size and weight, Hearn said brook will be at least 167 come fight night and was bigger than GGG at a presser a couple of days ago
