Velez often looks like an on and off fighter. He can look very explosive when his pop is effective.

But when he fights more durable opposition, he can be evasive and looks happy to win fights doing the minimal.

I like his straight punching arsenal and his in and out of the pocket movement. He can also flurry while moving forward, applying pressure which is a very useful tool in boxing.

He is coming in that fight tonight vs Alvarado after two consecutive losses (to Rios & Joseph Diaz). He needs to renew with victory and Alvarado should provide us a good gauging test to see where Velez is at mentally and physically.
