Jim Pender was an excellent boxer a really good lad as well,I still believe to this day my mate Jerry Howett got robbed against him in the final of the districts,but he was a class act,I never saw the other two lads
I was also a Top Junior, won 7 national Titles(3 Schoolboys 3 NABC's 1 Jr ABA's) 12 time National Finalist. 8 Times multi National Gold Medallist Boxed for England on Numerous occasions, i won my 1st 33 fights stopping more then half in my 1st 10 fights i stopped 6 and i was only 27kg's (going up to 32kg):lol:...
Tony Dodson is my age and he won all 4 school boys
i had the pleasure of training a young martin(london irish) when he was 13ish at a NABC training camp he was the most natural boxer i think i've ever seen .

There was a lad who used to live at the back of me when i was a kid he was pretty decent but iat the time i didnt know and me and my brother used to shout things over to him and his brother and they would shout back to us,ya know the usual crap that kids do when they see kids their own age,anyway a few years later i found out he was the best in britain for his weight from willaston abc,tommy lewis,i never watched him but rumour is he was the most gifted kid,he beat ricky hatton on a willaston show in the kingsland and rick beat him on one of his amateur clubs shows. Another one from my neck of the woods is nick macdonald hold the record for the most aba titles i think,10

Yes I remember that like yesterday, he was very awkward lad he was I was shocked at the scores that day. I think you won the same day ddnt you? I had such a stop start career. I remember naz was there in Sheffield he was my idle after that fight with you. He thought I nicked it was a close bout tho.

He thought you Nicked it he must of been smoking the other stuff that night I gave you a couple of standing counts... It was computer scoring so it will say in the Medical card i will have a look, and tell you the scores.

Ian Wilson was a lovely boxer. His brother too, Colin Jnr was a good amateur but had to pack it in....repeated Concussion i think. They are the sons of PJ Gallagher's old trainer Colin Wilson snr, a great guy.

Yes that's me. Was never dedicated as a pro. Didn't live the lifestyle and worked full time aswel as trained 6 days a week. As for amateur titles 3 schoolboy titles, 1 Nabc, 1 junior Aba then second year pulled out of final with broken ankle. 2 times Aba semi finalist and 1 time finalist. Good to hear your still involved in a great sport. I had my own boxing gym a few years back that my brother runs now.

It was a good night AMG your Gym mate Hatton was a year older then me, he was Class A under 42kg he Beat and stopped a boy called Matthew Beury from Dale Youth in the Finals the following year i won the Class A 42kg, a few time we was the same weight but a year apart...

I'm sure we was same year ya know, I was born 1980.i think as schoolboys you was always a couple of weights bigger than me.I boxed Nicky cook in one of my finals, also beat sale Robinson who you boxed a couple of times.couldnt find the time with training kids anymore, working and spending most of time in the gym, had no family time with kids e.t.c. Yes I went to Russia with Hatton, tony Dodson, terry Driscoll and Nicky cook boxing for England, some years ago now like. There was a few kids from London but I can't remember who. I was argy ward sparing partner when you beat him at York hall. You was on form that night.
