Roy Jones going again in August - opponent announced

Post by Like a Boss »

Roy Jones Jnr will return to the ring August 13 and fight fellow veteran Rodney Moore. Roy now 47, and last seen when brutally KO’d by Enzo Maccarinelli, will fight, hopefully for the very last time, in Pensacola, Florida.

I will not watch it. I just can't stand seeing RJJ as a shell of the once brilliant fighter he was.
I wish he would retire. He's earned it

I wish he'd retired years ago so we could remember him for what he was not how bad he has become.

At least he's fighting a weak opponent. The big problems occur when he fights someone with a pulse.

Perhaps he just wants to go out with a win? Fighting at home too.

Please make this the last one Roy. Please.

Maybe he'll start ambushing old women at bus stops next, and they can have a live streetcam following him around as he whups them, until one of them lays him out with her handbag.

Roy's career has become very very sad indeed.

It's his prerogative and he knows the damage it's doing. Good luck to him. :TU:

Does he though?

Self delusion is a trait common to all humans, and it seems to have an unfavourably large bias within those who are former elite sportsmen.

Is there a boxer on the planet that doesn't know being punched in the head is bad for them?

I know smoking is bad for me, but doesn't stop me deluding myself that I'll escape the negative effects of it.

It is bad for you but a lot of stuff in life is gonna be bad for you, with that being said it is in us to be a fighter so we fight I ain't as old as Roy but have had my share of fights. Roy makes a lot more then I ever had in one fight so I know he has enough money to retire from fighting. I ain't sure why he still does I am getting close to retirement my self and believe I am 9 years younger then Roy,with that being said I would love to fight Roy because he is going down as ATG and I would like to tell my kids and grandkids that I fought him. It sucks to see a fighter fight way longer then they should but as a fighter I know retirement isn't gonna be easy.

Rodney Moore shouldn't have a boxing license. He hasn't had a win since 2002.
RJJ's last outing wasn't actually against Enzo, it was against debutante Vyron Phillips.
Enzo Maccarinelli is the kind of guy who gets knocked out by any decent cruiserweight, and has been a candidate for retirement since about 2009, although he has continued getting somewhat decent wins since then. The fact that Maccarinelli knocked out RJJ is a very sad indictment of RJJ. I would like to point out that after Maccarinelli KO 4'd RJJ, he got TKO 1'd by Dmytro Kucher in his next fight.

Looks like it. Chrunov paid his debt to IRS, at least he say so. 3 millions, if I remember well

In return RJJ said couple of Russian patriotic bullshit, got Russian citizenship and embarrassed himself in front of crowd in his new "homelend".

After such an upset nobody in Russia want him, so he is back, without debts to IRS but with no money.
So he'll sell what remain of his name for peanuts...

All this is very sad...

I seriously hope this is his last one! All he's doing is damaging his health! And ruining his reputation! We are talking about a fighter that in his prime was an all time great! One of the very best to ever step in a ring.
