Sammy Vazquez Jr. vs. Felix Diaz

Post by thomasjkelley »

What the hell happened in this fight? The refereee erroneously took a point away with 14 seconds remaining in the fight. If he spit his mouthpiece out, then a point needs to be taken, but that wasn't the case. I don't think it could have been more apparent that a punch knocked it out. And then the judges. The original scorecards were 96-94, 95-95, 95-95. The revised scorecards read 96-93, 95-94, 95-94. So all three judges forgot to take a point from Vasquez in that last round? What are the chances of that? If the process is that all 3 judges turn in their cards separately, that would be quite a coincidence. Nevertheless, poor performance all around for the officials in Birmingham.

yeah i don't get it do the judges ignore the referee and rely on the 'commission' to take the points off?
Anyway I think Diaz decision was a good one although the draw was understandable wouldn't have been the worst decision ever.
Great sitting back here in Australia on a Sunday morning watching the fights live. Doesn't happen all that often

Is that what happens? They rely on the commission to take the points off? That would explain how all three could forget. I didn't disagree with the overall decision either. That was a very difficult fight to judge. I wouldn't have disagreed with any reasonable score either way. Thank you Grant! Enjoy your Sunday off :TU: .

Diaz should very well be undefeated cuz he also whooped Peterson but was robbed in that one.

Vasquez will be back from this though he's a very good fighter aswell.

It wasn't difficult to judge. Diaz dominated the fight from the 3rd onward. 98-91 Diaz for me.

All three fill in their scorecards then the supervisor tallies them up on the full scorecard you see pictures of sometimes with all three cards on it, the supervisor must have forgot to take the point off when he was adding the scores up is my guess.

Vasquez showed a ton of heart in the fight, but he absolutely zero head movement. If there's one thing for him and his team to take from this fight it's that he REALLY needs to work on his head movement.
