After last night I think a better question is: How long will WIlder be out of the ring?

Will he need surgery to repair the injury to his right arm?

He'll fight Malik Scott again in a much anticipated rematch

Personally I'd rather see him in with Audley 'A-FORCE' Harrison again :bag: YES HE CAN :yay:

Pulev is way too good, despite his age, I expect Wilder to fight Fres Oquendo or something.

Also, I expect the WBC to give the belt to Povetkin and I hate the fact that Wilder once again, comes away with a good excuse, saying he can't fight for the belt because of his hand (which was full with implemented steel wasn't it?).

Don't want to see wilder fight anybody outside the top 4 or 5, anything else is pointless. How can you be a champion and keep fighting bums

How's it an excuse if he's broken one of his hands and torn both of his biceps?

Because he already had piles of excuses to avoid the Povetkin fight. Like, it's too cold, Povetkin can't handle someone as big and strong as me anyway, first want to fight the 19 year old Hughie Fury, or eventually Duhaupas and so on and on and on.

I suggested this before. If Pulev was willing. I think WIlder would be very unlikely to lose. There main issue though I think is Pulev doesn't speak English making it harder to hype.

The Main Issue is Pulev is a Top 10 ranked opponent and Wilder has no intention of ever fighting another Top 10 opponent for the rest of his life apparently.

Allegedly. Maybe it is just that good excuse to not fight Povetkin.

If Wilder really felt that he needed an excuse, he could have... made-up those injuries. Like, there was a fight in which Mike Tyson said he broke his back in the post-fight interview. Odds are they didn't take an x-ray prior to the post-fight interview to confirm his claims, and it's pretty likely that his back wasn't broken. It's weird how people have the capability of saying things that don't necessarily have to be true.

Most of the people that have responded to this thread are complete fornicating morons. That is the answer.

Lou DiBella says Wilder will be out for the remainder of the year with his injuries :

"He's definitely going to need surgery on his right hand," DiBella said. "He will have it as soon as is practical. He will likely also require surgery on his biceps."

"Deontay is definitely out for the remainder of the year, but we will know more in the next few days."

So will he need a comeback tune-up against a soft opponent?

Wilder arm injury was from doing yard work... It's a non-happening... Claiming a hand injury is anther way to put Povetkin off... He'll wait for Povetkin to announce a fight then he'll announce His.

Wilder or any other high rated USA boxer will not fight Pulev ever. No promoter can earn on this fight!

Becouse of Pulev, he is unknown in US. Had no fight in US ever, and the only recognizable US boxer he met was Thompson in 2012.

He'll only fight the best if there's a cash out. Fighting Joshua would be THE cash out.
You are perfectly right! Belt...and 5M$ that crazy Russian oligarch put in escrow account :TU:

If they wanted it to happen, just have him fight stivern on a Wilder undercard before facing WIlder.

Pulev paid 0.5-0.75 mills $ for a fight. Who will pay it to undercard fight? Pulev's team made their decision...they'll harvest the money in Europe.

First off, (as has already been pointed out) Wilder needs to recover from his broken hand and torn biceps injuries. And thus far, I have not heard of how long he is supposedly going to be out of the game. But there's no getting around the fact that Povetkin definitely is still his mandatory opponent.

Secondly, I would be pleasantly surprised if Wilder fought Pulev. Pulev is a very credible contender (unlike Wilder's other 4 defenses) so it would be his career-best win if he won that fight.

But we can't give Wilder undue credit because frankly, he just hasn't earned it. His title reign has been of a very poor standard with Lou DiBella justifying it by saying "he's a young Heavyweight" and "he's learning on the job".

Every boxing enthusiast is perfectly entitled to make up his own mind, but for me - that just doesn't cut it. Boxing fans should be demanding more from their Heavyweight Champions rather than utter mismatches, because it doesn't make for exciting fights, and what's more - it's potentially dangerous putting a lower-ranked opponent in with a ferocious guy like Wilder. Someone really could get permanently hurt.

What a bullshit. 3 out of 4 Wilder's last opponents were unknown in the U.S. and it didn't prevent those fights.

Now we know for certain that Wilder won't fight Povetkin. Here is what DiBella said:
