As per the fairly standard opinion it seems, I see LSC's size and output giving Frampton big problems.

I think Frampton has big problems if he cant hurt him, otherwise I see a cotto-Marg 1 type fight with Carl giving ground and landing cleanly bit wearing down

Though I said when it was made, framptons camp were very definite this was the one they wanted, so i have to assume they are confident, which gives me pause on my opinion a little bit.

Still, I definitely think Frampton has to get serious respect for his punching from LSC, and as he's never hit a featherweight I have to say that one I will believe it when I see it.
Sorry? I was questioning Frampton being better than Mares. In this fight Carl will have to be much more aggressive than he was against Quigg. Basically, he has to lure LSC into LSC's fight. That rarely works out well.

Ah my bad it was Gil who said he wouldn't be surprised to see either man win, nested quotes confuse small minds.

That's true. I'm picking Santa Cruz to win the fight though so....I mean it's not like I'm favoring Frampton in this fight.
I didn't say you were and I wouldn't be shocked if Frampton won. Just surprised you rate him that highly.
I just think he's the best opponent in his prime that Santa Cruz has fought. It's a short list. Frampton and Mares are the only particularly credible opponents he's fought. For years he was the Wilder of his weight classes beating up everybody not ranked in the Top 10 he could dig up.

IMO Leo is just too damn big for Frampton. LSC really should be fighting in the division above. That 7 inch reach advantage will be massive here.

Yeah all the problems that Quigg caused Frampton over the 2nd half of their bout, Santa Cruz will be able to cause those kinds of problems and then some. Plus he's tall and rangy like you said so he could easily win some rounds with his jab.

Leo is only 3 inches taller than Carl but the size difference in reach will make him feel like closer to a 5'11 fighter. Frampton has really short arms.

I'm saying Carl Frampton. It's going to be a difficult fight for both men, but I think Carl has it.

I think he will do it alright. In my eyes Santa Cruz hasn't looked the same man since moving up to Featherweight.

As for the coverage, i haven't heard a thing about it mate, it's a bit of an unusual one. I've been watching Buncie's boxing hour on box.....nation.....freeview & there's been no mention of it.

Nor have Sky brought it up & i doubt they'll be going for it because Eddie Hearn was pushing hard for the rematch with Quigg.

Maybe we'll get lucky & ITV, Channel 5, Dave or Spike might zpend a few quid to pick it up. At least it will be free then

I'd be happy to be wrong on my prediction, and see Frampton win. I like him better than Santa Cruz.

Frampton has the power to hurt LSC and if he steams in the way he did against Mares then he'll be playing into Carl's hands. Size and probably strength advantages lie with LSC whereas Frampton is a better boxer. I hope Carl can hurt him early and make him think more because he could certainly overwhelm Carl with the pace he likes to work at. I'll be staying up for this one. Wouldn't be able to sleep anyway!

I've a sneaky feeling it might end up on that Premier Sports as a PPV. Barry must still be trying to whore it out to the highest bidder atm.

I have felt in recent fights that Carl's power at Super Bantam was diminished due to finding it harder to make the weight. The guy walks around at a lean 10 1/2 stone outside the ring. I think he will be back at his best at Featherweight. Whether that's enough to beat LSC I am not sure but I want Carl to win.

I think so too. But the hour is getting late, which makes me think that it it's becoming more likely to be a terrestrial channel.

I can't see Frampton beating LSC, unless he stops him. LSC is big for the weight, and a very busy fighter.

Frampton has the style and sense to win this but he might lack that natural weight strength if Cruz is 100% for 12 and prepared to go that far.
I bet some people are thinking how many rounds can Frampton go full on if it kicks off early right ... good chance it will go off but it could settle down during the mid rounds paving the way to the stretch.
Love the match up it has all kinds of possibilities.

I think the move up in weight will aid Carls proven power as it looked like he was really working to make weight, and I am thinking (hoping) he will get a late ko. Im biased though but on another note at least Carls fights are real hard to pick fights which as fams is what we want instead of already knowing the outcome like the majority of matchups that are being made these days.

Huh? He didn't steam in against mares. Most disciplined fight he's ever fought. I'll be cheering for Carl, but I don't see it. Quigg's late pressure bothered him and LSC can do that, and more, all night.

Frampton will rise to the occasion and have his moments but it won't be enough, Santa cruz is just a whirlwind think smaller version of Aron Pryor.

Santa cruz by late stoppage.

He flew in at Mares as open as you like. He fought at a ferocious pace but he got caught a lot and was there to be hit. Point I was making is Frampton is an excellent counter puncher and unless LSC is a bit more defensive minded then he'll get caught. Wether it'll be enough to deter him remains to be seen.

You're right though Quiggs pressure did have him looking uncomfortable and it was the same in a few spells against Gonzalez although he adapted well eventually. Carl hasn't performed to anywhere near the level he can in his last two and he's going to need a near flawless performance to get a decision against LSC. Can't wait!

LSC looks like your typical Mexican who can take a vicious punch. Those dudes have whiskers. I don't think Frampton is going to nail him with anything so hellacious that it halts Leo in his tracks and stops his aggression and workrate. IMO to beat LSC he need to outbox him. Be constantly moving. Give him a moving target and tie him up when he comes inside. A guy like Lomo would beat him. Rigo as well. Frustrate him. It takes a special fighter. I don't think Frampton is special.
