Lucas Browne stripped of WBA title!

Post by danundisputed »

Dear Boxing fans!

According to different sources Lucas Browne got stripped of the WBA title for using banned substances.
The fight between Chagaev vs Browne was overruled to a No Contenst and Chagaev was restored as Champion as far as I know yet.
What's the current status? I wonder cause the records of Browne & Chagaev haven't been updated!
What's the deal?

The WBA cannot change the result to a no-contest, the commission has to do that.
boxrec would update the results if the commission had changed the official result.
The belt belongs to the WBA, they can do whatever they want with it regardless of official results.

To my knowledge Browne did not fail a commission drug test. He failed VADA drug testing that was part of an agreement between the Chagaev and Browne camps.

Maybe the commission has elected to stay out of the situation and let the WBA handle it?

Niether Browne or Chagaev are top 10 caliber fighters.Fury, Joshua and Wilder would rip their heads off and crap down their necks. Haye, Parker, Ortiz. Povetkin and Klitscho would pound them out as well.
The WBA may as well chuck that belt in the trash

I'd like to see Haye - Chagaev actually, Chagaev is the better boxer, Haye is the better athlete. I think the fight will be much more competative as many expect.

I assume the Browne vs WBA court case is only hours away now? Haven't heard anything to the contrary.

Why isn't the WBA saying anything about the phony round timing in the Chagaev fight?

This drug testing crap has become very politicized and corrupt. I'd like to see it done away with.

Probably because that's on the commission.
The WBA has zero control over that kind of stuff.

Browne was railroaded IMO.

I wish the WBA, Chagaev and Oquendo would just fornicate off.

I get confused over this stuff. What commission? What commission has control over fights in the Chechen Republic?

I agree.

I wish all those phony gangster run alphabet things would f off - and same with Doctor Margaret Goodman's (Ne)VADA drug testing outfit.

Based on their own rules the WBA was already lenient on Browne but apparently the Browne camp feels like the rules don't apply to them.
They didn't even bother with the appeal process that is required by the rules. Skipped and went straight to court.

As much as people want to act like the ONLY use for Clenbuterol is weight loss it's just not true.
Two minutes of spare time and internet access is all it takes to dismiss the false claim that a heavyweight boxer would get no benefit from Clenbuterol use.

Clenbuterol increases the lung capacity and endurance of the user. That is why a heavyweight would use it.
It's out of the system in 25-40 hours, if they don't test the athlete at the right time they don't catch them.

The Lucas Browne court hearing has been rescheduled to take place for the 24th August. It’s too much of a coincidence, in my mind, that this announcement has been made in the midst of the media furore about the Russian Olympic drug scandal. Perhaps the WBA are reconsidering their position?

Am I wrong in thinking that VADA doesn’t have any ground troops in Russia, so when Browne failed the drug test administered after the Chagaev bout, it must have been performed by an independent Russian agency?

When you’ve got fellow pros, like Tony Bellew, refusing to compete in Russia (due to the recent drug scandals), coupled with Russia’s anti-doping lab admitting to cheating tests for several years, it does add some credibility to Lucas Browne’s defence.

It seems that the WBA acted hastily in issuing a ban to Browne and stripping him of his title, especially if there are lingering doubts about the accuracy of the test results.

So how long does the benefit that it provides stay around for?

Thanks. They will favor their own fighters though, just as the phony western outfits favor theirs. Boxing is all messed up, and now they are using drug testing for political reasons.

According to uneducated black Americans around 25-40 years. According to science, it hasn't even been proven to have any positive effect on athletes at all ever.

Any news on the Sturm situation? Why isn't he getting stripped? Is he paying so much to WBA that positive drug tests don't matter?

I doubt we'll see Chagaev in the ring again. If I remember correctly he indicated he was retiring after Brrowne knocked him out, and it seems getting the title handed back wasn't enough to change his mind.
