Frampton v Cruz NY Sat Night
Sorry new thread, but one below is confusingly from Feb & first 3 pages on about a possible Rigo fight.
This one has sort of flown under radar a bit, no uk TV announced till a few days before, nothing in the papers - over shadowed by upcoming Brit super fights perhaps, and fact bookies make Cruz a big fave, which I was surprised to see slightly.
But then I realised he's moving up..for some reason I thought Cruz was SB as well - too many bloody titles eh....and its in NY
But Carl is some fighter though, always showed himself a pure winner through & through - mentally 100% Tough & ROCK HARD.
Cruz thinks he's chinny by all accounts - not the case though...Kiko packs a wallop and he couldn't budge him...and is Leo a big hitter ? Not really seen that TBH, but maybe I've not been paying enough attention - seen him a few times: impressed, then not so impressed....busy as hell skilled and very confident - first time in east coast too though
Surprised bookies make him such a big fave...good big man beats a good little man...too busy for Carl, too big, home ground....Jesus I appear to have talked my self around
How does everyone see it on here ?
Anyone giving the jackal a good shot here .?
Big night coming up on Sat for sure -come on Carl, hope he springs a big shock here

Re: Frampton v Cruz NY Sat Night
It's a tall order for Carl and he's going to need a career best performance here. I think Feather will suit him and I also think LSCs come forward style will see Carl having some success. He's a good counter puncher so I'd like to see him hurt LSC early. Carl was troubled by Quigg when he eventually started to pour forward and LSC can do that all night. Hopefully they have an intelligent game plan and can frustrate LSC and make him take some chances then counter. Discipline is they key for Carl in this fight.
I slightly favour LSC because Carl has been way below his best in his last two fights but I'm hoping the extra weight will see Carl back to his best. I think he's struggled at SB recently. Can't wait for Saturday. I'll definitely be staying up. Some strong coffees and breaking in to the kids haribos to keep me awake

Yeah true, but wasn't Carl troubled more by the body shots v Quigg? Maybe weight weakened...possibly true of the 2 knock downs in US last time too...or mAybe the weight making has diminished him a bit.
He can certainly crack though, and hopefully catch the overconfident champion coming in ...

I think the style match of LSC's chin-up 100 punch-per-round activity, and Frampton's compact counterpunching, means Frampton is absolutely nailed on to land quite a lot, clean and early. The question is whether those shots have an effect, I think if he cant visibly affect LSC with his shots in the first couple of rounds, he will have a long night.
For me this will resemble either Cotto-Margarito 1 or 2.

It seems to me the style match is incredibly obvious, the x factor is how their physicality match one another, most especially in terms of their respective punch resistance.

Re: Frampton v Cruz NY Sat Night
Im tipping Frampton to do the bizz in this one,ive always rated Santa Cruz and the win over Mares was impressive,i think the new weight will suit Carl same way as jumping up weight has suited Leo,i think Frampton will still be strong at feather and might try to walk through Santa Cruz to get his own shots off and get on the inside, although Carl is a good outside fighter too,i just feel with Leo's height and reach and the fact he likes to be busy,Frampton will try to rough him up a bit and work the body a lot to slow him down
Frampton never took chances against Quigg as he waas in total control for the most part but i think he might be a bit more adventurous here being the challenger in a foreign country whilst also looking to put on a bit of a show
Im struggling to pick a winner as its a genuine 50/50 but i'll go with Frampton by the closest of margins

Do you think he'll get a fair shake from the judges if it's a tight fight? That worries me a little I've got to say!handsofstone wrote:Im tipping Frampton to do the bizz in this one,ive always rated Santa Cruz and the win over Mares was impressive,i think the new weight will suit Carl same way as jumping up weight has suited Leo,i think Frampton will still be strong at feather and might try to walk through Santa Cruz to get his own shots off and get on the inside, although Carl is a good outside fighter too,i just feel with Leo's height and reach and the fact he likes to be busy,Frampton will try to rough him up a bit and work the body a lot to slow him down

Re: Frampton v Cruz NY Sat Night
I hope so,it is a worry though, hopefully Frampton turns it up a gear from the Quigg fight as 1 judge had him losing that one too, that should be in the back of his mind here,as well as being the challenger needing to "take" the title from the champ,he was a little too conservative in the fight with Scott last time out and though he was a deserved winner never really turned the screw which if he does the same against Santa Cruz then he might regret,he needs to make sure he owns the rounds because Leo will no doubt get the nod in the tighter onesStuarty30 wrote:Do you think he'll get a fair shake from the judges if it's a tight fight? I think it'll help that LSC wont let him be that conserative and he will have to give it some to win rounds where he knew with Quigg throwing nothing he could just nick rounds without doing much himselfhandsofstone wrote:I hope so,it is a worry though, hopefully Frampton turns it up a gear from the Quigg fight as 1 judge had him losing that one too, that should be in the back of his mind here,as well as being the challenger needing to "take" the title from the champ,he was a little too conservative in the fight with Scott last time out and though he was a deserved winner never really turned the screw which if he does the same against Santa Cruz then he might regret,he needs to make sure he owns the rounds because Leo will no doubt get the nod in the tighter onesStuarty30 wrote:Do you think he'll get a fair shake from the judges if it's a tight fight? Yeah I'm hoping he'll get plenty support and they make some noise for him.MightyWarrior wrote:Well they love the Irish in New York, so No worries there I think.Stuarty30 wrote:Do you think he'll get a fair shake from the judges if it's a tight fight? Really can't wait for this fight. First time in a while I think I'll pull an all nighter for it. 50/50, but I'm leaning towards Frampton on points.

Could this be about levels, where 2 undefeated champions clash & it suddenly becomes apparent there's a major gulf, like with the Crawford fight last week ? Although I never gave Victor even the remotest chance in that one.
I read Carl say "if I lose.." Last week - WTF ??? Not what we wanna hear. I'm 100% he never said anything like that before the Quigg fight....

I've put in notice to cancel my Sky and move to Virgin next month - anyone have experience of transferring B0xnati0n across? Doesn't look like it has an HD option on Virgin which fvcking sucks.
Re: Frampton v Cruz NY Sat Night
I don't think you need to pay a registration fee on Virgin (or you never used to) so it's just a case of cancelling then putting it back on when your Virgin is set up. Nah they don't have HD on Virgin! Pish!Boxerbeetle wrote:I've put in notice to cancel my Sky and move to Virgin next month - anyone have experience of transferring B0xnati0n across? Don't have Spike TV either. If there's ever boxing on I need to pull an extension cable right across the livingroom to get my freeview on because of the way my livingroom is.
