Boxrec has a fight between Albert Badoud and Francis Charles for the European welterweight title dated 1919-08-17 with the note ”the date of this fight is uncertain”. Ballarati in his Pugilato has this title fight dated 1917. There could be a simple explanation why the date is uncertain. The fight didn't take place at all.
I have been unable to find it mentioned in any French newspaper of the time. Such things do happen but what is more strange is that it isn't mentioned by Francis Charles himself. In 1933 L'Humanité published his life story based on interviews with Francis Charles (Pierre Manasse) and his former manager Hautemulle. The series started 1933-07-24 and was called ”Memoires d'un boxeur aveugle”. There were 52 parts (until 1933-09-18). I can't find any mention of a fight with Badoud.

Re: Albert Badoud vs Francis Charles 1917-1919
I fully agree with you and I've taken the fight off his record. I originally added the note that the date was uncertain, because it didn't take place on the date shown here previously. If a report of it ever surfaces, we'll enter it. But I don't think it will.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping for.
