Josh Warrington vs. Patrick Hyland - July 30th 2016
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Patrick Hyland - July 30th 2016
Warrington will no doubt pound Hyland non stop for twelve without making a dent and win a landslide decision.
May not be the greatest main event, but the card looks decent overall.

I got the impression from a previous IfL interview he didn't want to fight stall before his wedding, but Hearn needed to get a few guys out before the end of the boxing season and needed a show headliner to put them on.rio wrote:Warrington decision. Sky should have stopped this tho. Selby was ready to go. This fight was always talked about happening this summer from both sides. Warringtons arse went. 1st he said he couldn't fight due to wedding (he actually released a statement) then he decides he can fight just not against Selby. Sky really should have put pressure on Hearn. Who looks out for the subscribers? they desperately need some sort of quality control at Sky.
That said I don't think this fight does anything for him like the last one did.

Defending youre wbc int belt against hyland is not the same thing as getting your first world title shot against a good operater.rio wrote:Warrington decision. Sky should have stopped this tho. A brickie doesnt take on a new build a week before he goes on hol with the intention of completing the job, why- cos its too big.
Same as warrington doesnt take on selby without a 3 month camp and no obvious distractions i.e a wedding.
If selby is so confident why wont he do end of this year?

As if Warrington makes any decisions in regards to the wedding, how many blokes have a big say in their wedding?mark a h wrote:Defending youre wbc int belt against hyland is not the same thing as getting your first world title shot against a good operater.rio wrote:Warrington decision. But Warrington totally bottled Selby, he could have fought, had his camp and still had his wedding.

He bottled it big time. He knew he was getting married before his last fight but he still talked about his next fight being against Selby in the summer at Leeds. But when it came down to it, despite all his talk he just didn't fancy it. Bottom line was one man was ready to fight in the other guy back yard while the other realized he talked his way into something he wanted no part in. And using the marriage excuse was embarrasing to get out a fight especially when he is fighting on the same date anyway. Both fighters would have had exactly the same amount of notice. Really hope Selby does not fight him now. Looks like warrington is waiting for Russell to vacate as we all know he would bottle that fight as well.
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Patrick Hyland - July 30th 2016
It is disappointing that the Selby fight didn't get made, but i wouldn't necessarily assume warrington bottled it.
Seems to me he wants the fight but things just didnt fall into place this time, im sure the fight will happen.
But it is now a question of when, as Eddie seems to think it will sell out a stadium and given that the football season starts soon dates are going to be very limited before the weather turns crap.

Who would people say Hyland's best win is? I've pretty much only heard of three people on his record - the two he lost to (Russell Jr and Fortuna) and Rockin Robin Deakin, the latter just because he is a bit of a comical figure

Hyland missed the weight by over 2lbs, got 2 hours to lose it, not sure what they will do if he don't, assuming there will be pressure on Josh
to still head the card against him but at this level it could be risky.

Anyone know much of Cesar Ramirez who's fighting Ryan Burnett?
Burnett hasn't passed the eye-ball test yet for me (not that he's failed it either, just personally only got a small sample).
Ramirez looked big in the head to head today. 16/1 it is for the upset, or is that reflective on the fact he's genuinely crap as opposed to nobody has really heard of him on these shores?
