Best you've seen live?
Who's the best boxer you've seen live? I've been lucky enough to see Naz (for about two minutes) and Calzaghe. Many more but they two stand out as they're now 'legends' so to speak.
Re: Best you've seen live?
Seen a fair few but got to be Calzaghe overall.

Calzaghe for me as well.
Re: Best you've seen live?
Seen Naz at Hillsborough Leisure so had a very good view. Probably the most famous I have seen live.

chris Eubank Sr. Followed by Thomas Hearns, George Foreman. Eubank purely for entertainment value and knowing how to get a crowd going.
Toughest fighter ive seen Paul Ingle against Naz. Ingle was doing well until stopped.
Crapest boxer Steve Black, newcastle heavy effing shite he was.
Best looking boxer if you like Gerry Odowd.

Re: Best you've seen live?
Probably Azumah Nelson, hard hard man, great skills too

Ingle was coming right back in to it against Naz. Naz looked spent if I remember correctly.mimmy123 wrote:chris Eubank Sr. Followed by Thomas Hearns, George Foreman. Eubank purely for entertainment value and knowing how to get a crowd going.

Worst I've seen was Junior Witter! Obviously he was a good fighter and achieved a lot but watching him live was like pulling fuckin teeth man!

My dad loved him! I remember him vaguely. Always remember my old man saying McGuigan bottled it from him?Noxy wrote:Probably Azumah Nelson, hard hard man, great skills too

Watched Naz a couple of times, the first when he was an amateur I just remember him wearing a gown that was way to big for him someone said after it was Herol Grahams but never knew whether this was true or not but he went out and knock this lad out inside 2 rounds flash as you like, I think it was the semi-finals NABC 1990 held in Sheffield?

Azumah was a true great fighter. Loved it when he came back and owned Fenech.

Yes he certainly did, and you can't blame him really, Nelson near unbeatable & an all time great.Stuarty30 wrote:My dad loved him! I remember him vaguely. Always remember my old man saying McGuigan bottled it from him?Noxy wrote:Probably Azumah Nelson, hard hard man, great skills too

Re: Best you've seen live?

Re: Best you've seen live?
It was actually the Jimmy Mac fight mate. Jim gave him a hard fight that night before coming unstuck in the 12th. It was a great atmosphere in the Royal Albert Hall. A good undercard too with Herbie Hide, Lennox Lewis and Chris Eubank
I saw the Cowdell fight on the box. Chilling knockout with Nelson giving a bullish postfight interview if I remember right

Re: Best you've seen live?
Ha yes he did, continually referred to Barry as she ...funny as if he wanted the McGuigan fight, and the big bucks, the last thing he should've done is KO Pat Cowdell cold inside a minute in the UK...NO ONE did that - absolutely phenomenal fighter, the mighty warriorNoxy wrote:It was actually the Jimmy Mac fight mate. Prime Roy Jones. I get so upset that he tarnishes his legacy, but I respect that it's his choice.
Obviously Floyd, who I've seen live many times is a genius, but didn't take my breath away like RJJ.
A few of the guys who post here were also there when Jonny Tapia fought at York Hall. An utterly surreal, brilliant occasion.
Best technical fight I will ever see is ODLH V Mosely I. Some people thought it was akin to a sparring session, but it was technical brilliance.
Most exciting fight will always be Corales v Castillo I. It was my stag night and half of the fellas had never been to a fight before.

Re: Best you've seen live?
Would love to have seen SRL fight - I've met him a bunch of times.
Larry is very different. Doesn't take part in the boxing circuit at all. Best jab in heavyweight history.

Lennox Lewis.
I've watched Tyson & Hearns live too, but they were well past their respective bests at the time.

Re: Best you've seen live?
I see naz vs medina in Dublin not his best night Lennox vs chanet again not a great performance and Benn vs Eubank's 2. But the fighter's that impressed me the most was razor rudduck vs John westgarth and Clinton McKenzie vs Chris Blake probably not the best 2 boxers I've seen live but they both boxed great that night
