Beat Minter and K. Finnegan

Post by STRATHMAN »

Don McMillan, like Hagler beat Alan Minter and Kevin Finnegan yet he lost 18 fights.
I cannot think of any non-elite boxer with a comparable record of having the scalps of two World Class fighters. Anyone else?

Personally, I am not sure I would be calling Kevin Finnegan "elite" but if we are, I would say that we have plenty of mediocre guys around who have trounced people of his level.

Used to drink in same pub as Don. My Dad knew him. Also unfortunately killed someone in the ring in Africa I believe.

Both of his wins against the above mentioned were on cuts I think.

Fritzie Zivic. He has wins over jake Lamotta and two wins over Henry Armstrong. He has 65 losses on his record. Good rugged (some might say 'dirty') fighter.

To a lesser degree but definitely a dangerman - Paul Wesley, both top wins coming via stoppage, early.

Felipe Cambeiro lost a third of his fights, but beat Carlos Monzon, knocking him down 3 times in the process.

a great fighter zivic - many of those losses came late in his career when he was asked to go in with up and coming young lads - my guess is that fritzie
was paid to lose many of those. I don't think he was KO-ed in any of them. but for a top rate fighter he certainly has one of the worst ends to his resume (at least on paper)
