apologies, that was territory that was 57%, it was indeed 68% overall possession although its what goes in the net that counts and im sure chelseas plan was to sit back and hit barca on the break. Was going fairly well until messi decided to get himself an Oscar. It was never a sending off although the challenge on mesi's knee about 5mins before could have been.

Yet despite the fact you don't watch it you feel perfectly qualified to claim that the Spanish and Italian leagues are better
I lived long enough in the UK - and thus got enough of "match of the day" and of "gazetto football Italia" - to get an idea of this. I still follow football where- and whenever I can.

Btw, someone here wrote that the top 4 clubs in the UK are worldclass but the rest is sub-par. I agree; I disagree though that this would be a recent development. In the late 90s (when I lived in London) ManU could mix with the very best, and Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were close. But the other teams were quite a bit below top European level. The depth in the Italian and Spanish leagues appeared to be better. It may have had to do with England's long exclusion from European club competitions following the Heysel-tragedy. One can rapidly lose skills if one is out of touch with developments. Regaining them quickly is possible only for those who can afford to import the know-how - the richest and best teams.
