Krusher vs Stevenson...Who's Ducking Who?

Post by bnovelist »

People keep saying that Kathy Duva is avoiding the fight but when I saw them in the ring together after the Pascal fight it was Stevenson who looked

like a fraud. He called out Krusher but was relieved when his boys held him back! I am from the ol school I saw fear in Adonis Stevenson you

can tell he didn't really want any part of Krusher he had to respond after being called a chicken. His chin is too weak to compete with Kovalev and

is very easy to hit. Ward's chin isn't the greatest but he has Mayweather and Rigo level defense!

Chickenson

I think he's took to calling Kov, "You Know Who" rather than saying his name.

• Casual boxing fans aggressively criticise Adonis Stevenson for preferring to sign a contract with Showtime in preference to fighting Sergey Kovalev.
• Yet the very same set of casual boxing fans possess enough sheer audacity to applaud Sergey Kovalev for preferring to sign a contract with HBO in preference to fighting Adonis Stevenson.
• HBO won’t work with Showtime to joint televise any proposed Stevenson-Kovalev bout, as per Kathy Duva’s statements.
• It is an irrefutable fact that both men preferred to opt for a bigger pay cheque rather than face each other.
• Ultimately, HBO are to blame for all of this, because they failed to organise the Kovalev-Stevenson bout when they had control over both men, they then refused to renegotiate their contract offer to Stevenson (to lock him to their network) when the Canadian signed-up with Haymon, which would have prevented him from going to Showtime and they also refuse to joint televise the bout with Showtime.

In simple terms, even though Kovalev could earn a bigger payday fighting Stevenson with Showtime & Haymon’s participation, Main Events & HBO refuse to relinquish control over their man.

So if the Canadian doesn’t agree to Main Events’ terms (by excluding Showtime from the deal), even though this results in both fighters earning smaller paydays, then the fight won’t happen.

Showtime are willing to partner with HBO, but HBO aren’t willing to partner with Showtime.

Sergey Kovalev chose to sign an exclusive contract with HBO instead of fighting Adonis Stevenson (as per the WBC's purse bid situation).

When there were no network obstacles, Stevenson was ducking and then jumped the networks. He is the duck.

Why do you feel that Kovalev is immune from criticism? Why the double standard?

You aggressively criticise Adonis Stevenson for preferring to sign a contract with Showtime in preference to fighting Sergey Kovalev.

Yet you possess the sheer audacity to applaud Sergey Kovalev for preferring to sign a contract with HBO in preference to fighting Adonis Stevenson.

Both men did precisely the same thing for the exact same reason, but yet you give one of them a free pass whilst deriding the other!

Kovalev has clearly sought World Class opposition during his HBO contract. Stevenson avoids stiff competition at every opportunity.

The political landscape determines who can and cannot fight whom.

Historically speaking, most of which is still mainly applicable today, Roc Nation, Top Rank, Golden Boy and anyone contractually-tied indirectly or directly to HBO could not face any Showtime or Haymon affiliated fighter.

Remember, Kovalev's career best victory was the Hopkins win and Stevenson crossed the street from HBO to Haymon and Showtime in an attempt to make that fight.

It was only Duva's lawsuit against Golden Boy that scuppered those plans, which she agreed to drop only on the condition that Hopkins face Kovalev instead.

And the last time there weren't any political hurdles preventing Kovalev from facing Stevenson, Main Events were the ones that actually walked away from that fight.

Once again, when the political landscape wasn't an obstacle, Stevenson was ducking. He has also been ducking his countrymen, Pascal and Beterbiev.

NOT at the world level... Nobody told Mayweather or Leonard who they had to fight or when they had to fight them...not even the orgs whose belts they held... Mayweather Sr even told reporters about his dispute with his son over fighting Andre Berto. "If he's going to fight Berto, he should just quit right now. That's not a real good fight that anybody wants to see." When reporters asked Mayweather he said "Me and my dad disagree on a lot of things -- but he's my employee, it's my career, and I choose the opponent. He can get on board or get lost."

If a champ wants to throw his belt in a garbage can to avoid a fight, that's just what he'll do... but almost always it doesn't come to that. Usually they just pay the org off... and then the org names the unknown tomato can they want to fight as his mandatory challenger... You look at Chickenson's challengers and they've never been very good.
