At the moment I would barely put Hughie in the top 30. That's no disrespect to him because for me he's an excellent prospect but needs more development. He's not even in the top 5 in Britain tbh. Excluding AJ; Fury, Haye, Price, Whyte and possibly even Chisora are ahead of him.
I'm not surprised AJ is looking for joke opponents. He's an utter fraud but unfortunately the casuals lap it up.
Why is Whyte ahead of Hughie? Or rated by anyone?
Hughie has beaten Rudenko and Kassi.
I'm struggling to pick a name in the top 100 Whyte has beaten.
The guy is 29, beaten nobody and gets given immense credit for being knocked out by Anthony Joshua in the same round Dominic Brezeale did.

I don't rate Whyte much at all. I just think at the moment he'll outpoint Hughie. Although saying that it's true Hughie has the two better wins with Rudenko and Kassi. Hughie needs to develop physically a bit more though for me, he lacks the power at the moment to keep someone an aggressive, powerful fighter like Whyte off of him.
I don't doubt that in a couple of years he'll develop enough of a pop to his punches though. Just look at Liam Smith, he couldn't knock a turd off a toilet for the early part of his career. Now he's fully developed he's a good puncher with 8 KOs in his last 8 fights.
Without a doubt AJ wanting , suggesting or even agreeing to this fight speaks volumes , a so calle world champ wanting to fight at domestic level rather than unify the titles ,, shows what a disgrace boxing and especielly heavyweight boxing has become
Still it's hardly flattering that when choosing between fighting a 21 year old, a 24 year old and a shot 37 year old, he's choosing between the 21 year old and the shot 37 year old.
Hughie would make Joshua look silly.. Go watch Joshua v Savon at the Olympics... Hughie is bigger and a better boxer than Savon... Yes Joshua has a punchers chance but he has to hit Hughie.. Hughie has faster hands better feet and better ring craft.. Also I hear he has a better chin... Peter knows thats why he wants it.. Hughie is boring compared to Tyson takes no risks reminds me of Wlad with better skills

I just dont think Hughie has had much opposition in his career at the moment and to be honest I think AJ would knock him out quickly. In all honesty Hughies camp need to put him in with a hungry top 5 contender first to test the water, but he needs to face stiffer boxers before he is really entitled to a world title fight.
Joshua himself isn't even a top 5 contender.
Really? I am far from on the train but do not think that is a fair comment.
Top five must have Fury, Klitschko and Wilder in it. Then you can argue Pulev, Ortiz and Joshua for the next three. That is top five contenders with one champion in Fury.
If AJ is not a top five contender, who else have you got to push him down a few notches?

When I say top 5 I include the champion. Top 5 are Fury, Wlad, Wilder, Povetkin and Ortiz. Joshua and Pulev are 6 and 7, the order is debatable.

Have I entered some weird parallel universe? I honestly find it hard to envisage anything other than Joshua walking right through Hughie and stopping him in 2 should the match be made any time in the near future (which it shouldn't).

Why hasn't anyone else walked through Hughie?? He has fought big men??? His jab and movement is world class.. If Joshua charged he would get picked to pieces.. Joshua to slow and predictable im afraid

I'd still have Joshua as favourite but Hughie is an unknown quantity. He does have quality skills but hasn't fought a live opponent yet.

What makes you sure Hughie is a better boxer than Savon?

Its just my opinion both are really really good... Savon seems to switch off for periods. Hughie concentrates for full rounds.. I believe Kassi and Rudenko better than anyone Joshua has fought

Skills pay the bills, don't matter how hard you hit if you can't land nothing. My main concern about Hughie is his inactivity and illness, but I like an in shape Fury in this. Certainly nothing to lose, Peter Fury would have no interest unless they fancied it.

The big men Hughie have fought have either been past it or shite or both. Also going off your earlier post- I'm not sure how Fury is a better boxer than Savon but okay.

or they're underestimating Joshua's ability due to the hype surrounding him. They're almost doing the opposite, underestimating him.
I figure Joshua would beat Hughie pretty easy. Hughie's never looked particularly impressive to me. He's awkwardly effective like his cousin, but I figure Joshua would lay him out. It would probably lead to some beef between Joshua and Tyson Fury and would likely lead to a contest between them in the near future so I'd be down with it.
