Andre Ward vs Alexander Brand

Post by handsofstone »

Ward's warm up fight before his proposed world title challenge against Kovalev,i'd never heard of Brand until this fight was originally announced before it was postponed months ago,i assumed it wouldnt take place but Ward's team seem insistent on making this fight,i also assumed Brand was American but he's Colombian, his only loss was a SD to Jack and he's KO'd 19 in his 25 wins so the numbers are decent,he's got a decision win over Ruben Acosta who Callum Smith stopped a while ago

I cant see Brand giving Ward any problems whatsover though,Andre still looking great and sharp despite the inactivity and "boring" style,no one can doubt his abilty to still dominate opponents without really getting out of gear,i thought he might actually stop Barrera last time after putting him down early but i should have known better really

Ward shut out paving the way for Novembers date with Krusher :bag:

I don't get ward he's one of the best boxers on the planet and the right size to fit I into LH and SMW, both very lucrative and competitive divisions, yet he doesn't seem interested in fighting at all.

I’d like to see this Brand fellow come into the ring sporting the words: About Billions all over his robe and trunks.

Ward is so frustrating.

With Mayweather Jr out of the way, Ward could & should be the biggest boxing star on the planet, but he's not even remotely close to it.

He's had contractual issues, hasn't he? Same as Mickey Garcia.

He's too boring but he's American so he gets away with it. He fights the best. I wouldn't open my curtain if rigondeaux was fighting in my back hard. Breaks dickens jaw and then throws nothing for the entire round while dickens is running.

Abysmal fighter to watch

His style isn't very appealing to watch, it's like BJJ but standing up.

Good fight from Ward and a comfortable win,won every round but its hard to get excited when you see what was in front of him,Brand was a bit awkward but offered nothing offensively,Andre done as he pleased even switching lefty effectively,he fought on the outside all night throwing mostly straight shots, jabbed well to head and body and the back hand downstairs too, brought the right hand over the top into play more as the fight went on and landed a couple of hooks in the last round,he did tag Brand with some solid shots and i thought he might get him out of there but he never really pressed for it

I love watching pure boxers and its great when its Ward/Froch,Mayweather/Alvarez or Rigondeaux/Donaire but these fights do nothing for me

There was commentary it was just extremely low and could barely hear.
Brand fought like Yousef al Hamidi- waste of time watching it.

Ward is looking pretty big now, looks like he's done quite a bit of strength work.

why has ward fought 2 super middle weights at light heavy in his 3 warm up fights what's the point of that ? i just watched the fight and it was boring i wasn't impressed and i wouldn't be shocked if ward is past his best already .

I don't think you can take much out of this fight regarding Ward's chances against Kovalev the same way the Chilemba fight doesn't tell us much about Kovalev's chances. Both will look different fighters on the big night.

i hope so it just seems like the kovalev fight has lost a little bit momentum after both both fighters being less than impressive in their warm up fights

Warm up fights are usually rubbish, but I'm still psyched as fvck for the Ward/Kovalev fight.
