He isn't. A loss to Ward won't really hurt him to be honest. He isn't going to retire is he? He's 31, he has years left. Russians fight for a long time, he still has a lot of wins to come, he is arguably the best LHW.

Biggest myth ever; the glove had virtually no impact on the outcome of the fight.tigermoth87 wrote:Muhammed Ali got knocked senseless by Euro level light-heavyweight Henry Cooper and only remained in the right thanks to cheating. Manny Pacquiao was KO'd by journeyman Rustico Torrecampo.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:I haven't seen many ATG get dropped on their ass by feather fisted men who are not world class imagine the KO record holder Archie Moore who happened to be a Light Heavyweight Champion himself putting afew on the Krushers chin he needs to clean out the division 1st before we start calling him an ATG way way way too premature as of now
Your point is a stupid one.

I was referring more to the smelling salts they used to revitalise him. If I remember right they were illegal.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Biggest myth ever; the glove had virtually no impact on the outcome of the fight.tigermoth87 wrote:Muhammed Ali got knocked senseless by Euro level light-heavyweight Henry Cooper and only remained in the right thanks to cheating. If he defeats Ward, he'll be HOF worthy.

He's getting close but not quite yet. He needs to beat a current top 10 P4P fighter or two. if he beats Ward or even Adonis Stevenson that could get him on the brink of HOF. As it stands now, his career-defining win was a win over B-Hop who is still tough but well past his prime.bnovelist wrote:I don't think anyone ever achieved this status since Mike Tyson. Kovalev has done alot in just a 2yr span making a name for himself. Regardless of
the Ward fight he's already, at least for me an ATG.![]()

Kovalev is actually 33 but with only 30 bouts he doesnt have much wear and tear on him. But I agree that a loss to Ward wouldnt hurt Sergei's shot at the HOF, since Ward is already a lock for HOF.Ruthless-RKO wrote:He isn't. A loss to Ward won't really hurt him to be honest. I think they were legal back then.tigermoth87 wrote:I was referring more to the smelling salts they used to revitalise him. If I remember right they were illegal.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Biggest myth ever; the glove had virtually no impact on the outcome of the fight.tigermoth87 wrote:

They were definitely legal in the 60's and 70's. Not sure what year they were banned, but are illegal now. I think Maidana got away with it during the Broner fight.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think they were legal back then.tigermoth87 wrote:I was referring more to the smelling salts they used to revitalise him. Yes, thought so, it was commonplace to see smelling salts used in the corners.
