Hattons online meltdown
Re: Hattons online meltdown
A cry for help. I'd hazard a guess thats the real meaning behind his tweet.
Hopefully he has good people around him right now who will support him in the immediate, but ultimately, he is going to have to sort his own head out. Therapy might not be a bad option for him.

Absolutel rubbish. He hasn't even seen a drink problem.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I'd say her certainly has serious problems with alcohol; I can tell you from personal experience, that most coke fiends are also alcoholics, it's the booze that starts the trigger to fancy the coke - almost nobody does coke in isolation. I remember meeting someone who was part of Hatton's set up years ago, before he fought Tszyu, and he said that Ricky was a total pisshead and that he was in danger of blowing everything, and that was way before retirement kicked in. Alcohol is the most destructive drug there is, it leads people to make all the other bad life choices that flow from it, and rob people of their time, energy and discernment.magwitch wrote:I’ve never done cocaine but it sounds like a big bag of sh*t to me.
I doubt he’s an alcoholic. He wants to quit any drugs he’s on and it probably wouldn’t be the worst idea to consider a career change, as others have said.
It’s a strange one that success can mean you don’t have to work any more, but that’s only any good if you can handle that lifestyle.

Non story.
How many times in all our lives have we had girl trouble, gone out and got off our head on drink / drugs and when the night's over, everyone's gone home and we're alone with our thoughts said to ourselves some variant of " I have nothing left".
Difference is these days one press of a button and the whole world knows and the media vultures blow it out of all proportion. I don't know Ricky but the odds are he's cringing with embarrassment rather than staring at the wall wondering where it all went wrong. I hope so.

Best thing to do in that case is say “f*ck it” and move on. No sense being bothered by embarrassment, everyone has their moments, especially in drink.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I hope you're right.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Non story.

He does have a billion followers on twitter tho, so it’s a bit different to 45 friends on facebook seeing it..
I do hope he is ok. I would like to see him happily back in his family’s bosom.

It must be hard making the transition from the life he had as a fighter, the adulation, the money etc... to trying to find something that he gets as much enjoyment from away from the limelight. It must be like winning the lottery and losing it all, that would be a hard pill to swallow for the best of us. I wish him well.

I think the conclusion we can all draw from this, is that being on twitter is NEVER a good idea. Least of all pissed up.

Re: Hattons online meltdown
I think the use of the tag alcoholic is a problem one; I can say hand on heart I'm a terrible pisshead - that doesn't mean I drink every day, but it does mean that If I have a drink, you can guarantee I'll end up totally fornicating spanked, no matter what I tell myself beforehand, I'll always be the last man standing, and will continue to drink till there's nothing left, and then probably head out to get more - and I'll end up on the bugle too, guaranteed in 95% of cases, the history is there to prove it.
Does that make me an alcoholic, possibly, does it matter what you call it, probably not - what is certain is that alcohol is something I need to be very careful of. Just because the wheels haven't totally fallen off my life, doesn't mean it's not a problem, there's certainly been phases where it's come very close, and in most cases alcohol was implicated.
Anyway, enough about me; my point is that none of us can say for certain whether Ricky is a full blown alcoholic (whatever that definition means) - but certainly he's got a poor relationship with alcohol and is in a very bad place. Sure, maybe it was just a daft tweet when pissed, but then again, maybe not, or maybe indicative of a man in a very bad place right now.

Didn’t the Star get scrapped when the NOTW hackers went?
Also this word “meltdown” does not sit well with me. It wasn’t a fcking meltdown at all. Maybe he wanted to write “I have absolutely nothing left in the cupboards so fish and chips for tea it is...”, but he didn’t realise you aren’t allowed to write that much?

Re: Hattons online meltdown
This has just described my exact relationship with alcohol. I can't go out and have a few. If I go out and get on it, then after 3 pints I'm ON it. there is no middle ground, no just having a few, especially with certain mates. Therefore for the most part I just avoid it.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think the use of the tag alcoholic is a problem one; I can say hand on heart I'm a terrible pisshead - that doesn't mean I drink every day, but it does mean that If I have a drink, you can guarantee I'll end up totally effing spanked, no matter what I tell myself beforehand, I'll always be the last man standing, and will continue to drink till there's nothing left, and then probably head out to get more - and I'll end up on the bugle too, guaranteed in 95% of cases, the history is there to prove it.

It's not an 'alcoholic' but I would say it's probably a 'problem with alcohol' as a closer to the truth description.

This is my thing, the word Alcoholic is really not very useful, it describes it as if it is a disease, which it isn't, people who have problems with alcohol tend to have problems in other areas too, often obsessive compulsive tendencies for instance - when people think of an alcoholic they think of someone whose life is wrecked, staggering around like a hobo.TheCobra wrote:This has just described my exact relationship with alcohol. My dad has drunk every single day for the last 60 years, he was a raging drunk, used to go to the pub at opening time, and got the shakes if he didn't drink, he still drinks now at 85, 1 large glass of wine a day, which is all he's allowed due to heart problems, which he whacks back in 1 gulp to get a buzz on - and yet, he never missed a day of work in his life - but he certainly had a major problem where booze is concerned.
On that note, perhaps we should organise a boxrec piss up, seems like we've got a few like minded chaps here, lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllets's get ready to Crrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble!

gazza is dieing of a broken heart imo. That wife (who was happy enough with him when she was a single mum on a council estate i notice) wrecked him emotionally. And to have her and the family STILL selling stories about him over 20 years later cant help. Plus he LOVED the game to an unhealthy degree imo. Very tragic story, bless him. I have a friend that lives not far from him who tells me journalists put a bottle of booze on his doorstep every morning and wait in hope of getting a story. how evil is that?mickey1975 wrote:You are very right. Yeah I suppose so, theres no doubt the poor sods been damaged emotionally. He was one of the first figures in my lifetime that the papers REALLY turned on. When his "daughter" Bianca (who he adopted and took on as his own without question), sells a story about how awful he is whilst posing in a bikini, it still grates slightly..jamesmcdonnell wrote:I'd imagine Gazza probably wasn't the easiest man to live with, there's two sides to every story.
