He has very good ability for his age IMO, much better than most fighters would. Still, he should stay away from these much bigger and younger fighters near the top of the division to avoid getting a 1st stoppage defeat.
You remember when George Forman came back to fight. He
was 45 years old.
He was 38.
Google it! George came back in 1994 and fought
Michael Moorer and won the title. In my post
above I said,"... when George Forman came back...".

Tarver was a great fighter... He had Roy Jones's number and should have gotten a shot at him earlier.. "You gonna have any excuses tonight Roy???" That was his night.. He was on his game.. I just don't understand why anybody would be dumb enough to take steroids and flush his legacy down the toilet.. Because some idiot PED pusher told you his special high tech steroids will double your stamina... triple your strength... and are completely and utterly undetectable.

Then he pays 25K for steroids and finds out his strength and stamina aren't outrageously improved and he feels sluggish... and he doesn't even win the fight... and his test sample A comes back positive.. and his test sample B comes back positive.. so he calls his PED pusher and reads him the riot act...and the man says "Mr Tarver. You recall that I specifically told you that there was a .01% chance you'd get caught." ... "Yeah, but you didn't tell me I had 100% chance of being caught. They told me I had 17 times the Drostanolone in my system that could possibly get there by any food contamination or any other accidental means." ... "So what am I to say to that Mr Tarver. Those lying bastards will tell you anything."

I wish he'd retire though: he's in his 48th year & really doesn't belong in the ring now, especially the HW division which is beginning to hot up.

There are some huge guys around & a little old guy like Tarver wouldn't stand a chance against them.
How do you think he would have stood up against Brand?
My next door neighbour's cat could beat Brand, so I would hazard a guess that even an ancient & much heavier Tarver could beat Brand too.

He was out from 1977 until he CAME BACK in 1987, aged 38. He'd already been back for seven years when he beat Moorer.

True enough... There were 20 odd tomato cans---2 failed Heavyweight Title shots and 7 years---between Foreman's comeback and Michael Moorer.

It didn't look like George would get it done, but interestingly enough, when Moorer won the title Foreman was super energized... He knew instinctively that he had a chance to catch Moorer on the chin from studying his fights... It was the last KO shot or knockdown punch Foreman ever threw.

When I first saw the caption, I was sleepy, and thought it said:

Antonio Tarver Has Awakened & He’s Boring

Which I thought was pretty funny and real at the time.

But roaring? At this point...that's probably even funnier when I think about it. Who's he going to beat in the LHW division? Or is he going to fight as a HW? Even more problematic in my opinion.

Tarver beats Spong every day of the week.

Tarver is past his best but still very good defensively.
Would take a really good fighter to finish him early but a good one will still outwork him.
