It looks like the date was allotted by HBO, but I'm not sure a venue was agreed on, which suggests that either no contracts were signed, or they were signed but without the venue having been decided.
I've a feeling this won't happen. I wonder if Ward doesn't feel great at 175 and doesn't fancy it any more.

I'm not sure why thinking the fight will happen makes him a ring warrior, but yes, it will happen.

Yeah it'll happen more because he's contractually obliged to do it more than anything else. Wouldn't shock me for him to fake an injury or something though to get out of it.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'm not sure why thinking the fight will happen makes him a ring warrior, but yes, it will happen.

He's got nothing else to do. He wants the fight, it's just Ward being Ward. Comedy that people point to GGG for being the problem with this dude involved.gilgamesh wrote:Yeah it'll happen more because he's contractually obliged to do it more than anything else. It's the idea that a ring warrior doesn't need to fight with hometown advantage.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'm not sure why thinking the fight will happen makes him a ring warrior, but yes, it will happen.
Ward will have home country advantage anyway, he's an insecure prima donna if he needs the fight to be in Oakland.

Sergey Kovalev’s been living in the US since he turned pro and all but a handful of his bouts were staged in America.

If ward doesn't take this fight, for whatever reason, his careers over. Protecting that zero won't do him any favours. I'm a big Mayweather fan but his last three bouts (maidana 2, pac (i blame pac for that one though, berto) were pitiful offensive affairs. Thats how I see Ward. I see him as a bigger version of mayweather in those last three fights. Very little punch output. Overly defensive and no passion. Not fan friendly. I'm sure he will fight like that against Kov but he needs to be challenged or people will loose interest. He needs this fight more than Kov if he wants to make that $$$. If he's arguing about the venue I just hope it doesn't become a GGG/Eubank affair.

Right about now i'd hate to be one of the guys who lined up to fellate ward for his bravery the moment the fight was even rumored to be in the works.
