Agreed. At least with Mayweather we usually got to see some clean counters landing in every round.

Lara does nothing eye catching and fights defensively for the full 3 minutes. I'm not surprised that judges give him nothing.

Rigondeaux will end up losing a close fight like that eventually too. LSC, Frampton, Lomachenko, even Quigg could all "win". This is the same guy who breaks Dickens jaw, has him running and then throws nothing for a good 2 minutes.

Kind of reminds me of Callum vs Rocky Fielding. There was a huge difference in size when they got in the ring. Even beforehand to be honest. I just didn't pick up on it until after the fight when the referee had them in the middle of the ring and Callum was being announced as the winner. I noticed that Fielding looked about 2 weight divisions smaller. Look at how broad Smith is vs Fielding in this pic taken before the fight

The thing with smith is we dont really know what level he is on and this fight with canelo will tell us more,i think smith will make a good account of himself and could win this. We have never seen smith get hit properly yet and when u think about it we havebt really seen canelo get hit properly yet,against mayweather that didnt tell us much about him against lara it didnt tell us much either and against glass chin kirkland that was a waste of time. Smith hasnt fought anyone who is in the calibre of canelo's opponents but i just think we will see a shock here

I agree to a large extent. But if they had fought actually at light middle, Canelo would have been able to do less. There was a reason, handicapping in favour of Alvarez, that the fight was made as a non title over the weight matchup.

Gave him the edge when he needed one.

Of course, Lara doesn't help himself with his negativity.

Depends how you're ranking wins; as an upset it would be right up there. Smith is 13/2 which is longer odds than a lot of famous British upsets.

116-112 Canelo I think. Maybe 117-111...I didn't think it was debatable who won I know that. I was even more baffled when people started mentioning that they thought Canelo vs Cotto was a robbery and that Cotto deserved to win, I thought Canelo won that fight as clear as you possibly could. Cotto landed more jabs, but damn near every meaningful power punch all fight long was from Canelo, even his jabs were harder. I remember I had that one 118-110 Canelo or maybe even 119-109...I thought people were kidding when they said they thought it was close. It wasn't close at all.

Fielding has always looked huge as a super middleweight to me so it shows just how big Callum is.

I don't think Smith will do any better than Khan to be honest, Khan is a better boxer than Smith and got KTFO as soon as Canelo landed properly, same will happen with Smith mid rounds. Smith just isn't at this level and it will son become apparent as soon as Canelo connects on his chin.
