Right. I mean, Froch, who spent his whole career fighting 21lbs north of Brook against an absolute murderer's row of opponents, counted himself out of a GGG fight. I do not see how Brook has even a runner's chance.

I think Froch knew it was time to retire.

Dunno, maybe it would go to the scorecards after 4 completed rounds?
There might have been a bout in the past where this has happened, should I start a thread in the Boxing History section?

Well after thinking about it a bit more, I agree. My thought process was that I can't think of anyone at welter who you'd say punches considerably harder than Brook really. He's never really been outgunned in terms of power against anyone at welter. You would actually always say he was the puncher in pretty much all of his fights.

Perhaps. He still had a better chance than Brook.

The bookies priced it up. They went 1/3 GGG.

yes you'reright. but martinez only had a handful of fights at middleweight, from 2010 to 2013. looking at all his fight weights its clear he was a genuine 154lber. its also clear he was well over the hill when he fought murray.

I'm not sure over the hill is right, he was injured and was never the same. Look at the way he dominated Chavez Jr, who was a very big middleweight. He had no trouble at the weight, he took his title from Pavlik, it was knee injuries that shortened his career rather than him being over the hill.

Who is the hardest puncher Brook's fought? Carson Jones?

Who do you lot want to win ,, Just ask me nice and i'll officially pick the winner and loser , Its easy whoever i pick to win will lose and who i pick to lose will win .. Its really not a problem i do it all the time .

So here we go i am going to pick GGG to win which means he'll lose , and i'll pick Brook to lose which means he'll win .

And the big winner is ME, if i'm right i'm a genius , if i'm wrong then i've broke my losing streak

yes he'd been in war after war. Often going into fights with injuries. The battles he's had, it's a shock that he looks and sounds normal.

When you stop and lose that momentum, I think that's it.

Think he knackered himself out, especially going to war with the big/tall middleweights. I've seen him wince, after stealing the openings, reaching in with the long punches.

Loved watching Martinez, using his speed and power aggressively. He stepped up and he grabbed the prizes. For me, one of the greats from Argentina, along with Galindez, Laciar, Locche, Monzon.

he was 38 when he fought murry and chavez, so he was entitled to be knackered. but hopkins aside, when a boxer is older than 35 we can safely consider them to be past their best, even if they can still compete.

Hopkins changed his tactics as he aged, conserving energy by lowering his opponents and his own output. His battering of pavlik was something else though. He fought like the younger man.

Pavlik was always made for Hopkins. Too slow, reflexes poor and just got the basic jab/double jab right hand combo in his arsenal. Hopkins of today would do a number on that Pavlik imo

I reckon Thurman does, Guerrero said Thurman's jab was harder than Garcia's right hand. I don't think brook is that sort of puncher

I am a big Brook fan. I think if they were the same natural size/weight then we would have ourselves a fun fight.

As for Brooks punching power? Met, I don't think he has that sensational one punch KO power. If we look at the Porter fight, there were numerous times that he stopped Porter in his tracks with a smart counter punch or a well timed jab. And that's what his power is. Enough to stop a top 5(?) welterweight from continuously attacking Brook. It isn't enough to KO someone at that 'welterweight' level. To KO someone he has to throw combinations and Wear his opponent down. The way he does this is by timing his punch which increases his punching power. He times a punch better than any other welter.

The question is....does his timing give him enough power to stop GGG coming forward? In my opinion GGG is bigger and with a top notch chin at middleweight. It's more unlikely that Brook carries the power to stop him. I still think he times his punches better and is quicker than GGG but it could end up a lot like Khan vs alvarez with Brook looking decent for 4 or 5 rounds before the sheer pressure from GGG gets him out of there.

Ref stops it with Brook on his feet in the 5th.
