Manny Pacquiao‎'s last knockout win

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

It came 12 fights ago, although he has scored knockdowns since, but not managed to stop anyone since Cotto in 2009.

Has he lost his knockout power to keep opponents down?

Will he knockout Vargas?

We read the same claims about Mayweather also.

In terms of Mayweather or Pacquiao, are there any active fighters that has consistently competed against the calibre of opponents that those guys have faced? I don't believe there are any.

Also, Manny and Floyd are both nearing forty years of age and both have gained 30lbs to 40lbs throught their careers and have consistently faced naturally bigger men.

When you take all of these things into consideration, the relatively recent lack of KOvictories is really not that surprising, is it?

Mayweather was never really a knockout artist though. lucky KO against Ortiz and prior to that it was Hatton.

At one point in time, Floyd held an impressive unbeaten record of 35 wins (24 KO's or a 69% stoppage rate) prior to moving to the 147lb weight division, which is remarkable considering the calibre of opposition he was facing.

Excluding Pacquiao, there aren't any active fighters competing today that can lay claim to surpassing that feat.

Mayweather was a bigger puncher when he was younger and competing in the lower weight classes, but a combination of age, fragile hands, size disadvantage, calibre of opposition etc. has hindered his ability to score KO's.

The original point I made regarding Pacquiao and Mayweather remains true.

His KO's pretty much went away along with the special shakes he was getting from Ariza. When he knew he had to take random testing things changed. Pacquiao is dumb enough he probably didn't even realize what he was taking. They told him to say he was afraid of needles, despite the multiple tatoos he had. lmao

He was HOF caliber years before he even met Ariza.. so few real unbiased opinions about Pac or Floyd it's no wonder a lot of comments just get ignored. They should.

His last knockout win potentially could have been the last Marquez fight. One or the other was going to get knocked out that night the way those two were fighting. Just so happened Marquez landed his KO shot first. That was 2012.

- You've been filling your shorts with this shhh for so many years that I'm surprised a Hazmat emergency team ain't hauled your carcass to a sewage treatment facility for processing.

Luckily TUE hung around to pad his bank so we could see how dirty boxing is and how sissy he and his little pinky finger are.

Manny robbed of KO in first two Marquez fights, the Marg fight where he backed off to protect him from dirty ref Cole, and Algieri KDed 6x, twice for 15 counts. Had he KOed Algieri there would've been no TUE fight. Spence knocks him down 4x and gets easy KO for Haymon.

That's OK, girls have the right to cheer TUE, and little pinky has a right to run squallin' for daddy,

Nice thread though, thanks.

Must have hit a nerve, lol. The truth does that to some people. Poor Manny....after all the lies and excuses I'm glad he got over his superstition and fear of needles, and how it weakened him. Poor guy, gets KO's taken away from him too! That's some funny sheet right there.

Manny has great power, but few fighters have concussive power.

Fighters with great power have to try to knock their opponents out.
As a fighter reaches the level of Manny or Floyd, and fights top level opposition,
they are naturally going to try less to KO their opponent.
It's not worth the risk.

Also, these guys at 147 are much bigger than Manny. If Manny (even Floyd) were coward shrinking to let's say 135,
they would KO EVERY opponent. Manny would look more monstrous than GGG at that weight.

I doubt we'll see Pacquiao ever KO another Top 10 opponent. I think it'd be just as likely that Vargas would stun or stop Pac as it would be that Pac would stop him. Pac's not a KO puncher anymore.

How was Manny robbed of a KO against Marquez, he knocked him down three times in round 1 in their first fight, and still couldn't put him away, there was enough time left after the 3rd KD for him to finish it, and yet he couldn't close the show, and Marquez was even firing back by the end of the round. Manny couldn't have stopped Marquez if he'd had a baseball bat.

Me either, he's old, probably carrying lots of injuries, like most athletes his age and fighting younger fresher, naturally bigger men, he's not likely to score a KO unless his level of opposition drops dramatically and he starts fighting club fighters.

We've known for a while, but HBO have only just made it official... they have relinquished their contractual rights to Manny Pacquiao by refusing to distribute Pac Man's bout with Jessie Vargas.
http://sports.yahoo.com/m/823f3dbb-5b1c ... html?nhp=1

Floyd Mayweather Jr's contract with Showtime expired after his bout against Andre Berto.

Top Rank have recently agreed to establish a working relationship with Floyd Mayweather Jr’s advisor, Al Haymon.

So it seems that if Floyd and Manny choose to engage in a rematch sometime next year, due to both men being TV network free agents, there could be a bidding war between Showtime and HBO to televise the bout.

All the pieces of the proverbial “jigsaw” are falling into place, as there are no political hurdles to overcome…
