Caparello & Hooper head Melbourne Pavilion card - Aug 13

Post by Like a Boss »

Tim Hunt 19-4-1 vs Anthony Taylor 13-1-1 for the vacant WBO Oriental super lightweight title (vacated by Lenny Zappa).

Mark Quon 12-5-1 vs Robert Trigg 1-0-1 for the vacant Australian bantamweight title (vacated by Andrew Moloney).

Blake Caparello & Joel Camilleri are also listed on the card. No opponents named at this stage.

(the first two fights above we originally scheduled for August 3 but the green card has shifted them until 10 days later)

Not sure who Caparello is fighting on August 13th as yet. But he is heading over to Canada to spar Adonis Stevenson in the lead up. So he he'll turn up well prepared.

Timmy Hunt has done a runner from the August 13th fight.

Heard Damian Hooper is going to be added to this card. Wonder if it will be a Rob Powdrill rematch? Powdrill has lost his past couple. Might be the perfect time to try and avenge that 1st round disaster.

Done a runner? Sounds a bit dramatic? What happened there?

I don't think Tim has fulfilled his potential really. Got caught up in some bad stuff a while back that stalled his progress and recently he has just been undermatched way too often.

Heard Blake Caparello's opponent might be Rogerio Damasco. The guy Zac Dunn sent into la la land first round.

You mentioned Tim Hunt had pulled out. Do you know why? That fight had been set for weeks.

Damien “Super” Hooper has confirmed that he will return on August 13th in Melbourne.

https://www.boxingnewsandviews.com/2016 ... er-hooper/

“Finally I’m going to get back in the ring and have a fight. I know I got the talent to be the best in the world."

"Melbourne is where it’s gonna be and where I’m gonna have my comeback fight. I feel sorry for the bloke in the ring with me cause there’s gonna be so much pain inflicted and I couldn’t possibly care who it is – I’m ready for the world. Bring it on.”

August 13 shapes as a busy night of boxing.

There is a 2nd Melbourne card being put together featuring Will Tomlinson. Shannon OÇonnell will defend her WBC silver title aginst Kimika Miyoshi on the same card. Venue Melbourne Park Function Centre.

Sam Colomban was also scheduled to fight Gunnar Jackson in NZ on August 13th. But there seems to be some uncertainty about that one. Boxrec now has Jackson fighting someone else.

Haven't seen an official announcement as yet. But I believe Blake Caparello might be fighting 23-3 Argentinian Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna.

Unfortunately I was right about Blake Caparello's opponent. It is Rogerio Damasco. The guy Zac Dunn sent into la la land first round.

Blake is unlikely to blast him out as quickly as Dunn did at least.

Damien Hooper's camp aren't taking any chances with his return fight. His opponent for August 13th is Queenslander Kyle Brumby who has won 4 of 17 fights.

Sure Kyle hasn't got the best record, but he's a former Qld Heavyweight Champ and fought a lot of big blokes. He's pretty tough a Hooper should get the rounds in.

Fighting Kovalev is about as suicidal as fighting Golovkin. Blake did manage to give him a brief fright early at least.

So Hooper back after a 15 month break - much of it enforced. Will be interesting to see what sort of form he is in.

I notice Hooper is already listed to fight again in a couple of months time on an Ogilvie headed card.
