I think it would been a very competitive fight,Phillips had quick hands & a great work rate,even with the few loses on Phillips records he had some solid wins,only difference is Vargas hit way much harder than Phillips do.

Tough fight.For me prime Vargas would stop Verno in last rounds.

I'd have to favor Vargas here. At his best he showed a much level higher of talent than I ever saw from Verno. I always liked Verno a real pro, but Vargas was the stronger, longer, all around better fighter at their best. Verno's career definitely had more longevity though so he's got that going for him.
