Ducker Fury is ducking Wlad rematch

Post by Ricky_ »

After a career most notable for some of the most blatant ducks i've seen (Price, Ustinov), once again Tyson Fury has decided he doesn't much fancy the job in a rematch with Wladimir Klitchko.

In a video posted by Wlad today, he's updated that he's now taking Fury to court for breach of contract.

Interesting. Wlad mentions the Fury camp are trying to change the terms of the already signed contract - wonder what he's referring to?

Yes. Fury wants to hold those belts hostage.

The most recent “planned” date for the proposed Fury-Klitschko rematch was scheduled for the 29th October, which has fallen through.

Delays have been introduced due to Fury falling foul to injury twice, whilst also waiting for his “drug ban” to be lifted… and Tyson possessed the sheer audacity to criticise David Haye for being injured twice? I wonder if he’ll ever concede his mistake?

Whilst Klitschko may be passed his “sell by” date, his poor performance in his losing effort to Fury must have been partially influenced somehow by the severe post-natal depression his partner was suffering at the time – regardless as to whether he’s meant to always employ a “professional” unaffected mind-set.

For some strange reason, Tyson Fury wants to delay the rematch for as long as possible, to face a 40+ year old version of Wladimir that is more than a year older and to also give him as much time as possible to hit peak physical condition (considering how flabby he was in their original press conference).

Who would ever know? Fury is so unpredictable it could just be more mind games.

I'm bored with all this pish now! I quite like both guys but Fury is unpredictable and Wlad and team have shown themselves to be sneaky bastards in the past. I don't know what to believe or think anymore tbh. Fight or just piss off!

Feeling very much the same. Thankfully there is a new generation coming along below who will soon enough fill the void.

Am i the only one hoping that this fight never happens? I mean the first one was the worst title fight that i've ever seen in my life and we're talking about a lot of fights here. Who the heck wants to sit through another one of these. AND above all, the worst thing that could ever happen is Wlad winning the belts back and we'd have to deal with that robot for another few years. Not thanks. I hope the fight never happens and the belts are vacated for inactivity. Let's have a tournament with the real talent in the division. Neither of these two guys are the answer.

Completely agree with Stuarty. I stopped reading updates about this fight a long time ago.

I’d like to see the rematch, only to clear any doubt as to whom the better fighter is, because I’m fairly sure that Klitschko’s heavily-publicised personal issues would have had a detrimental effect on his performance during the first fight with Fury.

If Klitschko wins, I’d like to see him retire and the TV networks work together to hold a “Super Six” type tournament to ascertain the undisputed champ (similar to the 168lb tourney that Ward won).

If Fury wins, I’d like to see him face Wilder next, with the winner facing Joshua, resulting in the undisputed champ making their first defence of all four unified titles against Haye.

A man can dream, can’t he?

The first fight was probably the worst I've ever seen and I wouldn't watch the rematch if a soap was on. That being said. Wlad deserves his rematch. Fighting someone else for a vacated belt now would be pointless.

Same here. I too like them both, and I agree with what you said about them both too. This rematch drama is going on too long. People are losing interest.

Two sticking points:

1. Fury won't do VADA testing
2. Fury wants to change the financial terms of the contract

Just get this sorry ass, sh*t fight of a rematch over with already so we can focus on better fights in the division. Wlad deserves a rematch, and there's no need in fans waiting for this as if it's something special worth waiting for. The first fight was garbage, the 2nd fight will be garbage.

By the time they get around to it it might be more like an Easter present.

Fury was willing to fight Wlad once, he beat Wlad, his chances are probably even better in a rematch, and he dropped a belt just to make the rematch happen. There is significant evidence that Fury doesn't and shouldn't fear a rematch with Wlad. It is significantly more plausible that Fury wants to delay the fight due to sustaining legitimate injuries and/or he has to get the steroid accusations straightened out.

It is high time someone stepped in and forcing things along. I doubt the public will remain interested much longer.

It sounds like more mind games to be honest. I mean Wlad and his brother have called all the shots for title defences. As champs of course you can but it seems the brothers have ensured all challengers take what's given to them, in some cases not a lot. So I'm sure Tyson is being an arse on purpose, as per normal. Whilst it's really tiresome for us some of me is glad that Wlad is not getting his way for a change. On second thoughts we should embrace all of this as it's more entertaining that the fight will be.

If Tyson Fury is supremely confident that he can defeat Klitschko again and is indeed (using your words) “being an arse on purpose”, then all he is achieving through inactivity is allowing his personal wealth to diminish, whilst also justifying widespread criticisms of his hypocrisy.

I don’t know about you, but I feel that receiving a decent payday and retaining a fan-base is more important than playing mind-games.

There's no way Fury doesn't want this, it's such a bigger payday than his last fight, if he couldn't be bothered he could turn up and take a dive as soon as he's hit and retire rich.

I'm surprised everyone is assumign Wlad is being honest here. Maybe a man imfamous for trying to take every advantage is just getting mad because Team Fury aren't allowing him again.

And if the second fight turns out to be the opposite of the first and very exciting and Wlad wins it there could be a third playoff fight and that would be the biggest payday of all!

It's odd that there is nothing about this on either Tyson or Peter Fury's Twitter pages. They are usually outspoken about everything, to put it mildly.

Wlad is the biggest cherry picker of all, Tyson as usual is winding him up, getting under his skin and off of his game, and as usual it's working! Don't believe the hype, just read between the lines people ffs!
