Bugner - Frazier
1. 10 - 9
2. 10 - 9
3. 9 - 10
4. 10 - 10
5. 9 - 10
6. 9 - 10

8. 9 - 10
9. 9 - 10
10. 8 - 10
11. 9 - 10
12. 9 - 10
110-118 Frazier
Bugner was doing well for the first 4 rounds, but Frazier was dominant after that, with Bugner only offering a few good spurts per round rather than any consistent work.
I didn't like the American commentator. He was always going on about Frazier taking loads of punishment even when Bugner had been barely throwing a punch.

I've watched it before some time ago, i recollect that bugner was one tough dude to hang in there for 12 with frazier, and i'm sure he stunned frazier briefly at some point with a short left hand ...

He seemed to stun Frazier a few times, but was unable to follow up effectively on any of those occasions.fanman wrote:I've watched it before some time ago, i recollect that bugner was one tough dude to hang in there for 12 with frazier, and i'm sure he stunned frazier briefly at some point with a short left hand ...

Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 33 - Joe Bugner vs Joe Frazier
I thought it was an excellent performance from Frazier and had him winning 119-108,great fight despite the wideness of my card, the commentator was pretty harsh on Frazier when he said he was nothing like the Frazier that fought Ali in their 1st fight because i thought it was classic Joe,constantly moving forward, bobbing and weaving, bringing up left hooks to head and body, very busy and never stopped coming forward so im not really sure where Harry Carpenter was coming from, sure Bugner was no Ali but i think Carpenter was doing Bugner's durability a diservice,it s a pity Bugner didnt have the effort and workrate to match his toughness because he couldve got further in his career IMO
Strange to see Frazier hold back after he stunned Bugner before the KD,he had a free shot and maybe would have finished Bugner

Impressive punching power shown from Bugner in the Dunn fight, decked Richard within seconds
Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 33 - Joe Bugner vs Joe Frazier
Bugner vs Frazier
1. 10 - 9 - Bugner landing some very good shots, Frazier surprisingly easy to hit here, but lands a few heavy hooks too. Good opener
2. 10 - 9 - Bugner brilliantly quick and accurate at arms length, Frazier punishing on the inside
3. 9 - 10 - Frazier. More like the smoking Joe we know, bobbing and weaving and springing up with vicious hooks to head and body
4. 10 - 9 - Bugner. Great round, both scoring well. Bugner with the better punches landed for me.
5. 9 - 10 - Frazier. Good brawl but you're never going to beat Frazier letting him inside like that, the body work will take its toll on Bugner soon
6. 9 - 10 - Frazier. More pressure and plenty landed from Frazier. Bugner with a couple of really good spells in the round and could have been 10-10
7. 9 - 10 - Frazier. Not that you'd know it listening to the commentator but a big Frazier round
8. 9 - 10 - Frazier. If you can't work for 3 minutes of every round, Joe will wear you down. Bugner looks like he's running out of ideas
9. 9 - 10 - Frazier. Slowed a little in this round, but Bugner offering little more than a flicked jab. Fraziers round
10. 8 - 10 - Frazier. Great act of sportsmanship to not take another swing when Bugner was basically out on his feet. Frazier also hurt late on.
11. 10 - 10 - Fantastic round, great left hooks from both men. They're both going to have a sore head tomorrow
12. 10 - 10 - Similar to the last round. Wouldn't complain if you gave these to either man, a great effort
112-117 Frazier
If there was a man I really wouldn't want to share a ring with, it's Joe Frazier. The guy doesn't stop coming and this fight was no different.
Slightly surprised at how easily Frazier was hit in the opening couple of round, as his head movement is usually such a key part of his fighting style. I can only imagine 6 months out the ring coming back from the Foreman pounding had taken it's toll and he was shaking the rust off.
As for Bugner, boxed well in those opening 2 and had spells of success throughout. Showed fantastic toughness to stay in there and did surprisingly well in the last 2 after the knock down and even hurt Frazier at the end of that 10th round
