Watched this today as I've never seen Woodhall fight before. Decent fight great atmosphere only gave Malinga 2 rounds.

Woodhall without being brilliant had all the basics nailed down.

Yes. You cant help notice, he doesn't make the mistake of Holding His Feet (hes very good at Adjusting Those Feet so he can Maintain Distance), when he jabs he gets That Left Hand back in the On Guard Position very smartly, he obviously works to his strengths and Keeps it At Mid and Long Range for the most part (eschewing Bent Arm Shots, naturally), by doing all this he Keeps His Back Off Those Ropes, too.

Malinga dying for an uppercut in the early rounds, but Woodhall wasn't obliging. Wouldn't take the opportunity, sometimes get the feeling his feet hold him back from his opponent's punches as well as the chance to land his own.

Thanks for sharing was a nice watch, great support for Woodhall.

Woodhall - Malinga

1. 10 - 9
2. 10 - 9
3. 10 - 8
4. 10 - 9
5. 10 - 10
6. 10 - 9
7. 10 - 9
8. 10 - 9
9. 10 - 9
10. 10 - 9
11. 10 - 9
12. 10 - 10

120-109 Woodhall

Very good boxing display from Woodhall, lovely movement.

In the commentary I thought that Jim Watt was trying too hard to big up Malinga and he just seemed to be lying to me. Saying that Malinga was performing better than ever, whilst getting dominated and plodding around off balance seemed ridiculous.

Excellent showing from Woodhall to beat Malinga,118-110 on my card,he was a real neat and tidy boxer was Richie, just done the basics very well,1/2 sometimes finishing off with the left hook but it was his jab that won the fight, always in Malinga's face and the right hand that put him over was textbook, always on his toes too,Sugarboy gave it his all but was always 2nd best

I thought the fight with Nardiello was closely contested until he started to look like he wanted out the round before the end,i had Woodhall winning all the rounds but as i said they were close, you would have thought the KD Nardiello scored would galvanise him but it seemed to signal the end,Richie scored with a bodyshot to score his own KD in the same round then Vincenzo took a dive crying foul claiming a punch after the bell, thats when you knew he didnt fancy it any more,he looked enraged when his corner threw the towel in after he was put down again and under fire but he was probably relieved TBH

Woodhall - Malinga

1. 10 - 9. Woodhall. Good sharp use of the jab, moved and boxed well.
2. 10 - 9. Woodhall. doing very little wrong, plenty to like about what he's doing although he does look a little one dimensional.
3. 10 - 8. Woodhall. Malinga looks crude and awkward, but Ritchie controlling him well and scores the knockdown
4. 10 - 10. Not a lot happened here, Ritchie jabbed well but let Malinga back him up too much
5. 10 - 10. Couple of nice shots thrown by Ritchie, but Malinga came back with an answer every time Woodhall had a bit of success
6. 10 - 9. Woodhall just edged it, but very reliant on the straight one two, easy to see how a fighter with a bit more quality might work Ritchie out.
7. 10 - 9. Woodhall, much better round, Ritchie timing shots and getting out of range better to make Malinga reach and look clumsy
8. 10 - 9. Woodhall, close in the first half with Malinga putting more into it, but Woodhall finshed stronger
9. 10 - 9 Woodhall really starting to look in control now and looks like he could keep this up for 15 rounds
10. 10 - 9. Woodhall, more of the same
11. 10 - 9. Woodhall well on top now. some nice footwork to work his way out of corners in this round.
12. 10 - 9. Woodhall cruised over the finish line

120-109 Woodhall

Woodhall had plenty to like about him and worked well to that game plan, but it looked like Malinga played right into his style, coming forward without really applying real pressure, swinging clumsily at times and not having the speed or movement to get into range past Woodhalls straight shots.
I haven't seen enough of Woodhall in the past but he looks very much like a fighter who lacks a plan B and would come unstuck against a certain style of fighter or could be made to look quite basic against better opposition.

I think someone like an early 90s SMW Benn would have given him nightmares.

As for Malinga, a guy that got no shortage of chances at world level, looked limited here. And in his 40's I'd be intrigued to see how he managed to beat an undefeated Robin Reid six months before, let alone Nigel Benn (albeit in his twilight years.)
