Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
Billy Joe Saunders, the current WBO World Middleweight champion has yet to fight in 2016. In what has become a confusing tale of misinformation, Hatfield’s world champion failed over the summer to negotiate terms with middleweight kingpin Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin. A dilemma has taken root for the boxer, whom without an opponent has little option but to potentially face a former foe, bent on taking revenge for a closely scored loss.
He's declined to fight three opponents on the Smith Canelo card, and walked away from GGG. Now it looks like Eubank is on the cards for him..

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
I've grown tired of Billy Joe now. I can't stick the guy at all anymore after some of his antics. He comes across as a bully and I can't comprehend that at all. I know Eubank isn't everyone's cup of tea but I hope that he beats BJS up if there's a rematch.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
Saunders is pissing his career away. If he continues, in a year nobody will give a shit whether he has a belt or not.
He needs to realise, that in today's climate, holding a belt means little; unless you have a fan base; and his fan base is evaporating rapidly.

I expect Saunders to price himself out of the rematch with eubank, there's no way they will accept 20%, nor should they.
Jr doesn't even really need Saunders that badly. He can plot a career without him.

I agree, gone right off him, saw him in an interview recently saying he was in a par with GGG and as they are both unbeaten champs you cant separate them. Whatever mate.Stuarty30 wrote:I've grown tired of Billy Joe now. I can't stick the guy at all anymore after some of his antics. He comes across as a bully and I can't comprehend that at all. Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
He comes across bitter and quite delusional. He doesn't seem to realise that you're only as good as everyone believes you are, his belt means squat, if he keeps on with the same mentality that his belt entitles him to this that and the other, the sanctioning body will get tired of him and strip him of it. Without the belt, he'll be even less relevant.Nightmare Roy wrote:I agree, gone right off him, saw him in an interview recently saying he was in a par with GGG and as they are both unbeaten champs you cant separate them. He needs to engage in some actual fights, in the ring. All his battles lately are outside them.

Thing is he's a good enough for boxer, when fit, to give problems to a lot fighters. He can slow the pace of a fight right down to suit him.
But when you're not fighting, at you're weighing well above 12 stone... It does not good regardless of your natural talent.
I think he should have jumped at the chance of fighting Stevens - His style would box ears off Stevens and he'd look good doing it.

The Eubanks are 'looking at other options' but said they will defend the British 'if they need to'. It'll still happen I reckon.Horse wrote:Why?ILikeBeer wrote:I take it the Eubank vs Tommy Langford aint happening?

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
I have to agree with the few on here BJS is fast becoming a clown with a belt, nothing more. Similar to Tyson Fury, very talented but if your not going to get into the ring then stop spouting shit.
The shite the guy has been spouting on IFL this year.....
Knocking back opponents left, right and center while slagging everyone in the division off and backing it up by saying he is a Gypsy boy and fighting is in his blood and he will fight anybody .
I see he was having a pop at allegedly in his last waffle

Strange situation. I don't know why he seems so bitter at times. Massive chip on his shoulder judging by his interviews. Shame. He should just concentrate on getting a fight sorted!

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
In fairness to Billy Joe, with reference to his personality seemingly becoming more obnoxious in the IFL interviews, I think that the way Kugan fawns over him combined with Bill's naivete and the fact that (with respect) he doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed creates a perfect storm for him to spout nonsense at times. He seems heavily influenced by Fury's media persona too.
In regard to his inactivity, is it his fault or FW's. F does tend to match his world champions with some appallingly overmatched opponents (Flanagan v Fana and Smith v Kelly spring to mind) and maybe Bill who isn't the greatest enthusiast of training camps doesn't feel he can motivate himself to fight a lesser opponent now that he's world champion.

I was at the West Brom vs Everton game the other day, and Tommy Langford was in the programme as a local lad/fighter. He was acting like the deal had yet to be properly made official.Horse wrote:Why?ILikeBeer wrote:I take it the Eubank vs Tommy Langford aint happening?
As said, the Eubanks are 'considering their options', which is Eubank speak for messing people around. Then I come on here, and suddenly there's a thread about BJS possibly fighting Eubank. Hence my post.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
His career is stagnating while he continues to be obsessed with Eubank jr, needs to get on with his own career, anyone would thought that he lost to Eubank jr, the way he goes on, quite clearly he has issues and insecurities. Saunders claimed at one point that Eubank jr was so bad, that if did not stop him, he would quit boxing, well people who understand boxing know that Eubank jr is not rubbish and Saunders has not retired, he is still talking the same crap, though has Eubank gets better and better, Saunders criticism of Eubank jr gets more ridiculous, I firmly believe that if Eubank jr wins the world title, Saunders will still say he is rubbish.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
Strange how Fury and Saunders both seem uninterested in boxing, now they have reached the summit, not motivated anymore ? Fury and Saunders are both gypsy's, both struggle with weight and both are out spoken, though talented.Lead Write wrote:I think you might have hit the hammer on the head.CaptainSpacerod wrote:maybe Bill who isn't the greatest enthusiast of training camps doesn't feel he can motivate himself to fight a lesser opponent now that he's world champion.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
If Eubank considers 'other options' he'll have to give up the British belt. He's mandated to fight Langford. Which I find confusing when the Eubank's declined a fight with Liam Smith for a world title fight because they wanted to defend the British. It just seems quite unclear what their strategy is. Feel sorry for any name associated with these clowns.ILikeBeer wrote:I was at the West Brom vs Everton game the other day, and Tommy Langford was in the programme as a local lad/fighter. Yes, his obsession with Eubank Jr is very unhealthy. Either fight him again, or move on and do something, he seems jealous of the attention that Jr's name brings him, it's a bit worrying. As said here, he won the first fight, so what's he so bitter about?Anzi wrote:His career is stagnating while he continues to be obsessed with Eubank jr, needs to get on with his own career, anyone would thought that he lost to Eubank jr, the way he goes on, quite clearly he has issues and insecurities. I get the feeling Saunders career will peeter out, he'll maybe defend his belt against a couple of also rans, but I can't see any big fights happening, as Saunders seems to have an inflated sense of how much he's worth. Every fighter has a right to earn, but you've got to be realistic, it's not like he's some sort of superstar.

I can see him ending up at Super Middleweight or Light Heavyweight, believe it or not ? Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
Saunders' obsession with Eubank seems a little bit similar to Brook's obsession with Khan, in that it is all he ever seems to talk about.
But at least Brook kept busy defending his belt and eventually signed up to a big fight against someone else, Saunders looks unlikely to do either any time soon, which is frustrating.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Dilemma
That's the thing, Saunders won the fight and has been obsessing about the rematch. If anybody should be desperate for the rematch, it should be the loser.Anzi wrote:His career is stagnating while he continues to be obsessed with Eubank jr, needs to get on with his own career, anyone would thought that he lost to Eubank jr, the way he goes on, quite clearly he has issues and insecurities. Says a lot about how profile is more important than anything else in boxing.

BJS has already fought Eubank Jr and beaten him. What's this obsession with fighting him again?
