He doesn't have to go mando, he could if he wanted it that much. GGG has 3 mandos, it's never been easier. All those historical fights, the smaller guy brought either fame and big money, or some intrigue and a chance of winning. Lara brings neither. OTOH Brook's promoter offered GGG more than twice his career high and huge exposure on UK PPV.Badhusker wrote:I hear that a lot, and it shouldn't matter. Lara needs to establish himself in the division in order to get a fight with GGG. Just like welterweight Brook did, right?boxing_rocks wrote:Why not we call for Lara vs Jacobs which is really easy to make. If Lara is good enough to get into the ring with GGG, he should beat Jacobs and become Golovkin's mandatory.Badhusker wrote:Instead of talking about the fantasy of 40 yr old Mayweather fighting GGG, why not we call for Lara vs GGG so we can get an idea of how he deals with an elusive guy but more his size? I love the style match up. Call Lara's bluff about wanting to fight and at the same time shut team GGG up saying no one will fight them. Of course, if GGG struggles with Brook, no one will care.If you look back in history, recent or way back, very rarely did a smaller guy that moved up for a big fight had to establish himself in the division or make himself the mandatory in order to get the fight. BS excuse.
You probably know Lara's manager admitted they never contacted GGG's people to try make it happen. But just last month, Lara's manager said Loeffler had called Haymon to talk Lara, Jacobs, DeGale for his next fight. His thoughts: "Lara commands a lot of money so I cant say the fight will be simple to make."

Lara would be an interesting opponent for GGG, and one of the few guys GGG could fight that people would give him credit for beating. Especially after HOW he'd beat him.

The reason May would return, isn't to keep pace with some perceived notion about his career patterns all along. A GGG match, unless Brook erase that at which it switches to May-Brook...is about the huge challenge of that task and stunning reception he can receive taking a Golovkin win.
If May were to match Golovkin every critic of his world wide, would have to zip-their-trap.
For us fans.....we can debate it the pro's and con's, as we are doing. For me.. I wonder that If he were to lose and If he were to get KO'd how would it effect his psyche. Or, as Clock-work Tony 12:44 puts it (about Hell).

That is true, but from what I understand, the reason they didn't was because they were basically shut down publicly after Lara had been calling out GGG. I would love it if GGG KO'd Lara and shut his mouth. I hope they make the fight. I actually think Andrade would have a better shot vs GGG, but doubt if we will see that anytime soon.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:He doesn't have to go mando, he could if he wanted it that much.
