Joe Joyce
Re: Joe Joyce
I thought Joyce won. He landed too many shots to lose that fight. Should have been a Gold.

Not really, different style.SamWise72 wrote:Does Joyce remind anyone else of Gary Mason?

Cannot see how anyone could score that to Yoka. He looks a smarter boxer but nearly all his work landed short, while Joyce got through time an again. Total AIBA corruption. The judges score the way that they are told AIBA wants to result. Yoka and his missus had it in the bag from months ago.

I didn't say he'd win anything for sure - I said it's a sport he could pursue with a lot less risk to his health. Of all the sports to fail at, boxing's right up there as one of the least attractive. I'd much rather get thrown around in the judo on course to finding out I'm not elite level. There's a big pot of gold at the top and sod-all else but trauma in this game.littlepug wrote:you cant just dip your toe in at top level in ANYTHING and hope to do well

Re: Joe Joyce
It's a bit of a bizarre idea that he could switch to another sport and be world class. How many sportspeople have EVER achieved that? Curtis, up to a point. Remember Barry McGuigan's motor racing career? Neither does anyone else.
Re: Joe Joyce

He's getting on a bit, but if he ups his fitness I'd give him a good chance in the pro game.

Everyone loves a trier but he doesn't have the skills to be anywhere near the top as a pro
