Does anyone know where I can buy a VHS copy of their first fight held at Madison Square Garden on March 24, 1950?

You wont be able to find a copy. The tape doesnt exist as of now. it got lost somewhere through history. too bad, because i believe it was shown live at the time. so the film could be somewhere out there, but who knows where it is or if it had been destroyed!

in some ways, the fact this fight isnt on tape could protect rockys legacy. because what if in fact we find a film of the fight and realize it was a robbery and that lastarza should have won? now people may look at rocky and his undefeated record differentley.

I asked this same question a while back except it was about the Carmine Vingo fight. Apparently footage of the Vingo fight does exsist somewhere but not the LaStarza fight which real, realy sucks. The closest you'll ever get to seeing this fight is watching the movie about Marciano that showtime made. I also heard that Rocky came very close to losing in the first Ted Lowrey fight. I'd love to see this one too but no film exists. I't makes me real sad. It also makes me shity that there is not realy any film of the early Heavyweights. I remember reading somewhere that the Sullivan-Corbett fight was filmed but the cameras were made to be used outside at that time and the film went bad. I can't remember where I heard this but I was later told it was one of boxings great myths. But, If it was . Then why did they not film any fights inbetween the Corbett-Fitzsimmons fight and the Tomy Burns era. All of Jeffries' title fights are lost in time. What a shame. I have a feeling If these films still exsisted Jeffries and those early Heavyies would be held in much better standing today.
