Fake fraudulent fights from WPC in Argentina

Post by Rian016 »

The WPC in Argentina has been using the names of dead or retired fighters in fights, basically some random will fight under the name of someone else that no longer fights, to pad records.

http://boxrec.com/boxer/48768 Jorge Daniel Medina actually died a few years ago yet has 7 fights this year after his last fight being in 2005.

http://boxrec.com/boxer/48802 The same goes for Julio Esteban Martinez, who retired 10 years ago and according to people that know him in Argentina (the author of the article below) definitely hasn't fought since, yet he's listed as having fought 7 times this year.

These two fighters have actually "fought" twice this year on top of all this. A dead guy and a retired guy's names being used

http://www.elheraldo.com.ar/noticias/13 ... ecido.html This is the full article from a newspaper in the region in Argentina, in Spanish of course so translate the page if necessary. These are just 2 cases but surely there are more as the WPC have some of the most shoddy fights out there.

Sadly there are a lot of commissions who are just not up to the job. We are aware of the situation in Argentina (and other countries). It may be that they have to be downgraded, it is still being worked on.
