You don't know anything about boxing outside the heavyweights so that's a bit of a twatish statement to make there! Besides the guy was obviously being sarcastic!asdfjkl wrote:You seem to be new in boxing, perhaps you should google Vitali Klitschko.Syntax Error wrote:14-0 with 14 KOs would put him number 3 on the all-time HW ATG list, just behind Anthony Joshua & a long way behind Wilton Norman Chamberlain whose 0-0-0 record will never be bettered.

Maybe the mod could change the title of this thread to "The Two Zhangs" or "Chinese heavyweights" or something.

Re: Jun Long Zhang New Heavyweight sensation
Junlong almost made it to the 2004 Olympics iirc and claimed a bronze from the 2002 Asian GamesSportsRatings wrote:Here's the problem: two fighters from China have "Zhang" in their name. Zhang Junlong and Zhang Zhilei (names should be reversed in Mandarin, I think)
Zhang Junlong is the fat guy with little amateur pedigree.
Zhang Zhilei is the taller, much fitter fighter who won a Silver medal in 2008 as a super heavyweight.
Zhilei clearly has more potential and I wouldn't doubt he could make the top ten some day. Junlong I doubt will make any true top 15 or ever risk stepping up; he will probably continue to pad his record with nobodies (the WBA ranks him #14 but has asked for video proof of his bouts).
Both are in their 30s so time is somewhat of an issue, though today's HWs tend to fight forever.

Somehow I already had the feeling some people wouldn't understand sarcasm, now it turns out I was right.
Anyway, Jun Long Zhang is probably better as Wilder.

As good as Wilder? Or better than Wilder?asdfjkl wrote:Lol, perhaps I'm sarcastic as well... ?jezzamundo wrote:Perhaps he's being sarcastic?asdfjkl wrote: You seem to be new in boxing, perhaps you should google Vitali Klitschko.

Ok, fair enough. That said, Jun Long Zhang hasn't fought anyone close to as good as Scott, Stiverne, Duhaupas, Szpilka or Arreola, so it's really impossible to accurately compare them at the moment. Bringing up who stopped who earlier is irrelevant in the judging of who is better.asdfjkl wrote:Lol, perhaps I'm sarcastic as well... ?jezzamundo wrote:Perhaps he's being sarcastic?asdfjkl wrote: You seem to be new in boxing, perhaps you should google Vitali Klitschko.

Put a D level welterweight in with Randall Bailey and Floyd Mayweather - who is going to knock him out faster? Bailey almost certainly, but that in no way means he is a better boxer than, or would beat Floyd.

But to assume that Zhang is much better than Wilder only confirms how delusional he is.

I just ignored it, and the past year only seems to prove me right when it comes to Jun Long Zhang, I really hope Wilder can and will fight soon again and Jun Long Zhang getting the chance to fight a top contender to proof me right even more.Rob3_142 wrote:Yeah I think he missed my point.Cutman Scabbers wrote:Rob3_142 wrote:

I ignored it because it's girlstalk to me. Oh, I'm clearly losing this discussion, let's talk about a completely different subject and proof myself right in that one!
You forgot the comma!

See? Another girls trick, now everything is way to complicated to understand, let's act like an idiot while even any idiot would understand this.Rob3_142 wrote:???asdfjkl wrote:I just ignored it, and the past year only seems to prove me right when it comes to Jun Long Zhang, I really hope Wilder can and will fight soon again and Jun Long Zhang getting the chance to fight a top contender to proof me right even more.Rob3_142 wrote: Yeah I think he missed my point.

It's not even my language, but it should be
Yeah, I think he missed my point.
And look, the subject totally changed, mission accomplished...

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused as well and clearly I'm not the only one? You're picking on someone's post because they left out a comma? People regularly ignore the (frequent) grammatical errors in your posts, it's probably best to do the same in return.asdfjkl wrote:See? I was acting the way he did, to prove how silly it was.
Re: Jun Long Zhang New Heavyweight sensation
This oriental heavy stinks. There's gotta be at least 2 amateurs around Pittsburgh I seen at shows who'd beat this bum. Absolutely pathetic display. He wouldn't survive 2 fights in Pennsylvania...and Boxing here it ain't what it was back in the day
Re: Jun Long Zhang New Heavyweight sensation
The guy in the video is an Olympic silver medalist, Worlds bronze medalist, and Asian Games champion. Sure, he's slow and doesn't look the next great heavyweight, but he's not that bad.jewboypgh wrote:This oriental heavy stinks. Here's Jun Long Zhang. Or should this be added
to the "Famous Fake Fights" thread?
You decide.

I'm lost...is he talking about Zhang Zhilei (the former amateur stand out who competed at various international tournaments with solid success) or Zhang Junlong (decent amateur who just missed out on the 2004 Olympics)?crusader wrote:The guy in the video is an Olympic silver medalist, Worlds bronze medalist, and Asian Games champion. Neither is particularly quick, Junlong is certainly a puncher though by comparison. Both are a country mile better than Taishan Dong thankfully.
Re: Jun Long Zhang New Heavyweight sensation
I'm kind of confused because the guy in the thread title is one guy, but the guy in the OP's video is another. I assumed that jewboy watched the vid and was referring to Zhang Zhilei, but who knows
Re: Jun Long Zhang New Heavyweight sensation
This is such a confusing thread - perhaps we should wait until any of these geezers fight outside of China before getting remotely excited...
