Do you think allegedly is value for money?

I've been a subscriber for 12 months now and was impressed at first, but I'm getting cheesed off with the lack of interesting vintage material that could be shown but is'nt.

The live stuff is obviously great and I enjoyed the documentary about the Bugner - Frazier fight called "All in a day" that was shown, but keep repeating Khan v Algieri is pooor in my opinion.
A FEW MORE LIVE SHOWS FROM SMALL HALLS WOULD BE GOOD.

If you had to choose what would it be - 12 months of allegedly £144 or 12 months of Boxing News £97.50 ?

It's the only tv channel which is value for money, imo. I'm not too bothered about vintage stuff as I tend to watch that on YouTube, but the live stuff is fvcking great. I do agree that more small hall shows would be good, but I honestly feel that I get my money's worth from the international content alone.

I'm self employed so watch a lot in the day time, and the revolving drum of 'Greatest Fights' from the early 90s presented by Sean O' Grady and the equine looking chap with the tousled locks, featuring 4 rounders and a fat Larry Holmes main event gets old quickly. At least they've stopped doing the two hours of infomercials which was a major urine extraction for a subscription channel.

And there's waaaaay too much Colin Hart on the Fight To Remember shows. He's a pundit to forget with his 'those were the days' dogma and his transparently fib-straddling apocryphal anecdotes.

Do Rawlings and Jones commentate from ringside? I suspect not as they never show them.

I'll stick with it as it feels the right thing to do but more main event-worthy 'Main Events' would be welcomed.

In the UK yes, but I think they rarely (if ever) send their commentators to the international shows.

I think it's pretty good value. It's not been an action packed summer but generally they deliver between 60 to 70 fight nights per year. I watch Bunce's Boxing Hour, Boxing Matters, The Kugan & Cassius Show and a Fight To Remember each week so I'm a happy customer.

£144 per year is a bargain when compared to the things I've got to pay for but don't want to. TV license £145.50 per year, phoneline rental just to have my broadband £210.00 per year etc... £144 will only buy you 8 of Eddie's PPV's. I'll take B0xnati0n all day long

its definitely worth it. live shows are great, they get all the best international fights. love the buncey show every week too.
some of the fights to remember make a decent show as well.
if you compare that to paying PPV for joshua and now brook in non-fights then you're having a laugh. bocksnation wins hands down.
and i got a sub to boxing news for 72 quid....if you hold out long enough they'll offer it to you.

I think it's great, in the space of a month or so I got to see 3 big U.S. Fights. For £12 a month I'll take that , that's 2 pints and a packet of quavers in my local. I also watch a lot of the old stuff on there too.

It's easy to criticise the showing of vintage stuff but I imagine it's hard to get hold of rights for stuff and then all the parties that would have to be dealt with in order to show it. I'm sure he'd love to get his hands on stuff, his old ITV stuff, there were some absolute classic Friday night stuff on sky sports years ago that id love to see again but can he get his hands of them cheap enough to make it worth while?

It is amazing value for money, especially when you think back to the pre-BN days when you had to get up in the night and try to track down a dodgy stream to catch a fight. Now I can get up the morning after a Stateside fight and watch in glorious HD as though live and without knowing the outcome. As a boxing fan, is that worth £12 per month? Absolutely. Unfortunately I fear it will be short lived as they do not seem to be able to make money out of it and to me it looks inevitable it won't last much more than another year.

Yes, owners of rights to fights milk that shit for all it's worth. That's why obviously Frank shows a lot of his own back catalogue, I think that's pretty fair.

I hope that allegedly stays, I was very sceptical at first, but I've had a subscription for 2 years now, and wouldn't be without it.

Definitely value for money. Some of the PPVs on Sky recently have been farcically bad in terms of value for money. There have been some genuinely excellent fights on allegedly over the last few years for a fraction of the cost.

I'm not to fussed about watching old fights. It's the live shows that I wouldnt get access to that I want allegedly for. Definetly value for money when you look at the price sky pays for atrocious boxing coverage

Definitely. August always a quiet month, but other than that, it's been superb.

I do think they could amend the model slightly to go for 2 live UK/European shows per month which can be watched in the 7-11pm slot, and then as much International action as they can afford on the other dates. With some after the event small hall action to supplement this, then you should be able to put a new show on at least once per weekend.

The WSB was a nice addition and I always enjoy the Russian cards.

Bigger issue is with the actual UK live shows. The running of these shows has to improve. Far too many times you end up sitting until 10.30pm with nothing resembling a competitive fight. Whichever way you look at it (and I have no love of the Hearns), the balance of 50/50s, showcasing prospects, and a top class main event is far better done by Matchroom than Frank.
