d-toyz wrote:This bout should be added to both boxers record. On July 2, 1994, Donn Sakihara (116 lbs.) of Honolulu, Hawaii USA (Global ID 293518) defeated Nelson Galiguis (116 lbs) of Honolulu, Hawaii USA (Global I.D. 293516) by a 2nd round TKO in a Bantamweight match. The Promoter was Elorde International and the bout took place at the Neill Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Donn Sakihara's record should be 2-wins 1-loss (1KO) and Nelson Galiguis' record should be 1-win 1-loss.

What can you tell me about Francis Militante and Sam Kanamu? I used to frequent Kalakaua Gym and knew Francis. Sam was my grandfather. Just trying to see if I can get some other info or history from you if you happen to know them. Hit me up on PM if you don't mind. Thanks.blueboxing wrote:I agree with "Jack M." Donn Sakihara was a great boxer that was full of promise back in the mid 1980's to 1994. As an amateur he fought at the 106lbs. (48kg) division and was unbeatable. He destroyed India's Redzup Redzupufski and Ghana's Jeramiah Pokarodoedoe in the Pan American games. Upon turning pro in 1994 he was coached by the legendary Francis Militante and the late Sam Kanamu Jr.

This is ABSOLUTE crap!blueboxing wrote:I agree with "Jack M." Donn Sakihara was a great boxer that was full of promise back in the mid 1980's to 1994. As an amateur he fought at the 106lbs. A) "Redzup Redzupufski" was not an indian but Yugoslavian boxer, whose actual name is Redzep Redzepovski. I have never heard of a boxer called Jeramiah Pokarodoedoe (or anything similar). Definitely not a Ghanaian international representative.
B) Of course neither Yugoslavia or Ghana (nor India) would ever participate in Pan-American Games.
C) Donn Sakihara never represented USA in Pan-American Games. American representatives were as follow :
1983 : Paul Gonzales (-48 kg/106 lbs), Steve McCrory (-51 kg/112 lbs)
1987 : Michael Carbajal (106), Arthur Johnson (112)
1991 : Bradley Martinez (106), John Herrera (112)
1995 : Albert Guardado (106), Eric Morel (112)
D) No one called Donn Sakihara has ever won a National Golden Gloves or U.S. Amateur Championship nor can he be found in archived results of the final tournaments...
You two are full of crap and trying to legendarise a local level mittslinger who never won anything as an amateur and fought three lousy 4-rounders as a pro. PITIFUL!
Re: Boxing Record Update
Has anyone checked out the Nelson Galiguis fight he claimed, I have been suspicious of this for years.
