Are you aware of what Martinez damaged his knee (what turned out to be) beyond repair in the final round of the Chavez fight?TheDarkDestroyer wrote:Look how he performed in the fight before, arguably his best career win. Murray was six months after Chavez Jr, Cotto was over a year later.Boxerbeetle wrote:Oh good, another Murray debate where Horse stands alone, we've not had one for a while.
Murray may have been unlucky against Martinez, but look how Martinez subsequently performed against Cotto. The man's knees were shot to bits. A genuine world class MW would have come back from Argentina with the belt.

this footage is nothing to judge the fight from. its obvious that ingle has allowed it to be leaked for a start, and where is the rest of the footage, that would or might reveal other things? it lasts about a minute and has clearly been edited. may be to lull ggg into a false sense of security. it was just a dance for the programme. brooks kid relatives made him look static on the trampoline.....oh my god golovkins gonna knock him out in two!

In that case why isn't Murray rated above Brook in you p4p rankings ?????Horse wrote:I thought Thurman did a better job on Porter than Brook did.Switch hitter wrote:Beat Porter more easily than Thurman did..... Groves is a proper super middleweight, Murray isn't. Brook has never fought anyone like Groves.
Brook looks impressive against mediocre fodder.
Martin Murray's (black) & Kell Brook's (red) top 10 best results:
Sergio Gabriel Martinez - (Lost)
Shawn Porter
Felix Sturm - (Draw)
Arthur Abraham - (Lost)
Gennady Golovkin - (Lost)
Vyacheslav Senchenko

Carson Jones I
Matthew Hatton
Ionut Dan Ion
Lovemore Ndou
Max Bursak
Michael Jennings
Kevin Bizier
Nick Blackwell

Murray's fought the better opposition, he's proven his ability at a higher level than Brook has. Let's see what Golovkin does to Brook.

Really lol ? Golokin don't need a false sense of security, against a guy coming up two weight divisions, trust me !jimcook wrote:this footage is nothing to judge the fight from. its obvious that ingle has allowed it to be leaked for a start, and where is the rest of the footage, that would or might reveal other things? it lasts about a minute and has clearly been edited. may be to lull ggg into a false sense of security. it was just a dance for the programme. brooks kid relatives made him look static on the trampoline.....oh my god golovkins gonna knock him out in two!

as is brook.

I was looking at it from Golokin's point of view loljimcook wrote:as is brook.

Jim, I respect your views, but you can't actually believe that GGG is being complacent or capable of being lulled into a false sense of security from a so called leaked sparring clip?
I've always thought that Golokin can slip a Brook right, move inside, and do damage, all fight long.
Guess we will find out soon.

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
If Golokin pushes Brook on the back foot, it is only a matter of time, because Brook is not good going back or for that matter fighting inside, thats why he held all night long against Porter. Brook's only chance is to take the centre and use his superb jab and greater speed, but at some stage he will have to trade and take shots.Loynesy wrote:Jim, I respect your views, but you can't actually believe that GGG is being complacent or capable of being lulled into a false sense of security from a so called leaked sparring clip?

I think Golovkins jab is better and therefore Brook is getting backed up fairly quicklyAnzi wrote:If Golokin pushes Brook on the back foot, it is only a matter of time, because Brook is not good going back or for that matter fighting inside, thats why he held all night long against Porter. Both have brilliant jabs, Kell is in trouble if he gets out jabbed. Against Lemeux, GGG's was one of the best I've seen.

Brook is used to imposing the jab against smaller men than Golovkin, Golovkin is used to imposing his jab against bigger men than brook: I know whose jab I favour there!

Ten second clip, probably ten weeks out from fight night...

Golokins skills are underated, because of his power, but when he has too he can boxCounter-puncher wrote:I think Golovkins jab is better and therefore Brook is getting backed up fairly quicklyAnzi wrote:If Golokin pushes Brook on the back foot, it is only a matter of time, because Brook is not good going back or for that matter fighting inside, thats why he held all night long against Porter. Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
I am looking forward to the fight a lot, perhaps selfishly as GGG is probably the best fighter in my 30 years of going to fights I haven't yet seen in the flesh. Never saw Khalosia Galaxy, but that's one for the purists.
We do seem to be talking about how Golovkin will win (my view: get inside quickly; others; outside via the jab and then ramrod), rather than whether Kell has a shot.
I was chatting with my Dad (who I'm taking) today, and asked him whether Hearns v Hagler was a comparable. He didn't quite call me a moron, but did say that Kell Brook is no Tommy.... I did try and point out it was a metaphor, but try telling my old man that....
I'm genuinely interested in views as to how Kell can win.

*deafening silence*
If I was really good at computers i would find and photoshop and post some kind of gif of a man in a Sheffield united hat with his hands over his ears saying 'lalala I cant hear you Kell's going to win'

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
In my opinion that's silly. Ridiculous amount of clinching in that fight personally had Porter wining the fight I just can not see how anyone could have that fight any more than 115-113 Brook.Switch hitter wrote:Beat Porter more easily than Thurman did..... nobody on this occasion said either that he was amazingly talented or skilled- more so than Murray, certainly, but then Murray is mediocre where talent is concerned.
Brook's 'skills' have generally only been displayed at a relatively low level.
Murray is far above mediocre as far as talent is concerned.

I had it 115-114 Porter and it was due to Brook's constant holding which swayed itSwitch hitter wrote:Only one person scoring with clean shots....U.S TV had Brooke a good winner remember it has to be effective aggressionNaandrew wrote:In my opinion that's silly.
