Re: Betting thread
Golden Boy Promotions middleweight boxing main event tonight on EstrellaTV.com and RingTVLive.com at 10 PM EDT: I'm taking the under at + money on this ten round bout with Puerto Rican Jorge Melendez vs Mexican favorite Antonio Gutierrez. Melendez has won 27 of 29 fights by knockout and lost 4 out of 6 losses by KO or TKO.
Antonio Gutierrez/Jorge Melendez Under 8½ (+135) $74.07 for $100.00

ENGLAND E AND POLAND 1/2 DOUBLE.
Re: Betting thread
As low as an 11/4 shot in places, will go off a 5/2 or 9/4 shot in my book as we said at the start.Londonirish wrote:Londonirish wrote:GlobalBox wrote:Munyai is 9s against Lowe which is an absolutely crazy price.

Again as we said he is not a certainty by any stretch but if you can get 9/1 a 9/4 shot and keep backing them you will pick up and make a profit.
Nice to see that the books are wrong as per normal, there is a huge difference between getting a price right and being right, few appreciate it, you just have to keep the faith in situations like this, the board has spotted a couple lately and that is what you look for.
Re: Betting thread
Lee Haskins at 2/5 (took the 4/9 early) surely looks a solid punt? Stuart Hall's now 36 and last time they met in 2012 Haskins won a UD by 9, 6, 8 points across the 3 cards. Anyone see an upset here? On paper Haskins at 2/5 looks a pretty fair bet to me.
Re: Betting thread
brook and Edwards to get stopped between 7-12 @ just short of 10-1
Re: Betting thread
Canelo by decision, Casemiro by decision and GGG U8.5 is 27/1 that seems a steal to me. Only dodgy one is Casemiro but I don't think his a ko artist I expect to win with Edwards to make very awkward out there with his energy and movement.
Re: Betting thread
Patterson into 5/2 now, i got £300 on him at 9/2, cant believe he oponed at that price.

Obara 11/1 with Marathon bet to beat Troyanovsky. Other places have him at 5/1. Suspect theres an arbitage betting opportunity in there with those crazy long odds
Re: Betting thread
Quite a drift on GGG from 1.18 to 1.24.
That's saying the betting market (taking Betfair as a pretty true measure) has pushed the price for GGG up by 35%. I can see it going back down as the big players come in on the evening but at the moment it seems that the current discussions are gaining credence with the betting public.
Namely: GGG's ill, GGG flew in 6 days, GGG started camp late (Nelson), Brook is the heavier man.
It's interesting that the sum of the people on this forum (who are in the main dedicated boring fans and often patriotic in their support) are still pretty near universal in their belief that Brook is getting KOed.
Not sure what my point is, it's late!

There was barely any traded at 1.18 but I take your point. For high profile fights there's nearly always a drift and it's usually down to market manipulators taking advantage of the insecurites of occasional punters who've lumped on a short priced favouritecmdenny wrote:Quite a drift on GGG from 1.18 to 1.24.

Was expecting a bet365 offer for either the champions league or Manchester Derby, are they sacking this off now?

Re: Betting thread
I think the 15/4 on Canelo to beat Liam Smith on points looks a good bet.
I know a stoppage is more likely but Smith is a durable guy and plenty of fighters have taken Canelo the distance before. This isn't a GGG situation where a stoppage is an inevitability.

was thinking this myself, both like to tuck up which could eliminate the stoppage, good priceSteveDow wrote:I think the 15/4 on Canelo to beat Liam Smith on points looks a good bet.

Re: Betting thread
I guess a lot depends on Smith's ambition. If he comes to give it a real crack and goes for Canelo then I could see him getting stopped. If he comes to survive after the first couple of rounds I can see him losing on points.littlepug wrote:was thinking this myself, both like to tuck up which could eliminate the stoppage, good priceSteveDow wrote:I think the 15/4 on Canelo to beat Liam Smith on points looks a good bet.

Smith seems like a bit of a bully. He'll smile and bully his opponents when he's on top but If he gets hit and hurt by Canelo, which is inevitable, im not sure he would be the type of guy to risk getting starched vs lose a close decision and make up some excuse. Therefore, he goes into a kind of survival mode. Canelo by decision is a good bet.
Re: Betting thread
That looks like a good bet to me....Canelo has a reputation as a puncher, but the guys he's recently starched--Khan and Kirkland--are notoriously chinny. Other stoppage victims like Lopez and Baldomir were also undersized, and in Baldomir's case old.
Canelo didn't stop chinny Trout, hit Angulo with everything and never put him down, didn't put down little Cotto, and was landing good bodyshots on Lara but never had him in trouble.

Re: Betting thread
Yes, nearly 4/1 has to be taken.
Re: Betting thread
I'm gonna go Usyk, Canelo, Monroe points should be about 12-1 or more, might hedge with Glowacki points coz I have a sneaky feeling if it's close Glowacki will get the home decision.
Pissed off I didn't jump at the Justin deloach odds of 3/1 earlier today didn't expect to go down so quick.
