Brook/Smith sparring ?

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
Saunders, Lee and Eubank JR. Tell me what Brook has done to show he could live with genuine middleweights? Lee is the only one I'm not as confident about but I'm sure he'd get to him eventually, Saunders outboxes him and JR would punch holes in him.Anzi wrote:Who ?TheDarkDestroyer wrote:Okay, three I'd pick against him confidently.Counter-puncher wrote:

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
Saunders is a fat Middleweight, he should really be competing at Superwelter and Jacobs is chinny, Brook would beat them both.arlovski wrote:Counter-puncher wrote:FWIW arlovski I think the middleweights are shite and could see Brook beating a fair few of them
I didn't say otherwise (although i still don't think you could confidently make that claim given that this will be the first time he's jumping up TWO weight divisions - know one knows how he'll hold a shot/if he'll have any power to trouble much bigger men/whether the extra weight will dull his great athleticism or reflexes)
Anzi claimed Brook would KO every other middleweight champ - Jacobs/Saunders, even Eubank, Quillan, Lee etc might not be a murderers row but are all big men at the weight, experienced and capable.
To confidently say Brook jumps 2 weight divisions and smashes them all is just ludicrous.
Would anyone have even considered that to be possible before the fight with Golovkin was announced??

BJs might not be a ripped Adonis but this is boxing not bodybuilding and Brook wouldn't hit anywhere near hard enough to trouble him.

No but I just heard someone claim that BJS would lose a fight because he looks like a super welterweight.Absurd.

Hopefully GGG will dig in, bite hard on his gumshield to stand-up to the ramrod jabs before the "chocolate brownie" right-hand puts him down in the 11th.mickey1975 wrote:What do you think is going to happen in the fight, PS?Pugilist-specialist wrote:The same Macklin that lost to Brook's stablemate, Andrew Facey?stu 27 wrote:Been thinking about this today

And golovkin did a good job on a bonefide middleweight in macklin

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
The worry for me is that if GGG doesn't feel his opponent has KO punch power he walks straight through them and takes one to land one.
He respected Lemieux's punch power and out jabbed and out boxed him.
I don't think Brook has the power to deter GGG from walking through him.
He will look at him for the first couple then bombs away by 4-5 rounds.
Sparring session didn't show to much. Smith has a great opportunity against Canelo. Even a competitive loss would be his best performance and cements him at the top level at LM.
I'd be amazed if Brook-Smith didn't happen over the next 24 months. At the moment I'd favour Brook.

You do realize that he fought under 11st, same day weigh in as an amateur ?Fitzy901 wrote:There is no way he can make 11 stone.Anzi wrote:looks like one or should be one ?Fitzy901 wrote:

Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
I put some money on brook to get stopped between the 10-12th. I'll probably lose my money but the odds were 10-1 and Brook has always shown a good beard to me- bar getting momentarily wobbled against Senchenko where he recovered pretty much instantaneously. I think he was caught on the temple aswell. He looked pretty fucked against Jones in the first fight but I think that was purely him gassing more than anything.
It all depends on how his chin holds up at 160 against a bigger, harder hitting man. I think if the likes of lemieux and Stevens can get to around the 7th and 8th then (If brooks chin holds up at the higher weight) Brook has a decent chance of making it to latter stages of the fight as imo he's a superior 'boxer' to those guys and his jab in particular is definietly better than theirs.
I'm probably pissing money away but it's worth a gamble. I expect brook to come out of this fight with his stock improved. Time will tell.

BJS boxed at 69kg when he was a skinny teenager and you think because he made the weight the best part of a decade ago he can still make it.
Why do you think Luke Campbell moved up in weight when he turned professional?
Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
On IFL, Johnny Nelson claimed there will be no way that Smith wants a Brook fight now.keirw wrote:Going off what we saw there, Brook vs Smith would make for a very good fight.

I like Johnny, but he has a habit of talking out his backside when the cameras are on him, particularly when it comes to Ingle fighters.BigDoofus wrote:On IFL, Johnny Nelson claimed there will be no way that Smith wants a Brook fight now.keirw wrote:Going off what we saw there, Brook vs Smith would make for a very good fight.
Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
Then maybe he has took one too many then, because what I was saying was that, firstly Saunders is naturally an 11st fighter, secondly that he fought under 11 stone, same day weigh in and is now 11.7 day before weigh in and it was not from stuggling to make weight, but because he chose to make life easier. Yes Saunders last fought in the amateurs in under 11st about 7 years ago, but bear in mind one of my fighters fought in the same national finals in the Amateurs as Saunders, Saunders fought in the Welterweight final and my fighter fought in the Middleweight final, Saunders has fought at Middleweight in the pros, sometimes higher, up to 173, whilst the other fighter went as low as Welterweight and also fought at super Welterweight, I know it is too different fighters, but when you go in the pros, you have a longer camp to make weight, harder training and day before weigh in, whilst in the Amateurs you have same day weigh in and have to maintain the weight through each round of a competition, much harder to do. I hope that clarifies why I said it mate.lefty wrote:No offence mate but you do realize you're talking to a former British champion right? Lol.Anzi wrote:Another who does not understand boxing. Re: Brook/Smith sparring ?
The reason I called you an idiot is because firstly you launched into a tirade of insults and compared making weight with the Amateur scoring procedure, you also do not seem to the understand the difference between same day weigh in and day before weigh in. It is stupid to cal someone a moron, just because you don't agree with them, especially as I had not done the same to you before on this subject, Luke Campbell is totally different to Saunders, because he was very tall for his weight, Campbell still looks ripped at his new weight, in great shape, Saunders does not.Fitzy901 wrote:Erm yes.Anzi wrote:you must be an idiot, you must be lol and guess what, you nothing about boxing, making weight has nothing to with which code you fight under, do you not know the difference between same day and day before or are you just stupid ?Fitzy901 wrote:

You must be an expert at making weight... How many fights you had? You a Trainer? You say one of your fighters, so you must be an adult but You come across young and immature!
