Yeah he was a great boxer to watch, Ingle, I like how he managed to combine aggression with neatness if you know what I meanforestbox wrote:Great fight this I had it 95-94 to jones at time of stoppage.ingles head movement great in this fight.

Good lad is Paul. He was brilliant in the ams. Little kid with big ears from Scarborough who they would stick in with anyone. He pushed Naz, I thought.

Really good fight to watch, Ingle did him on gas tank to a great degree, IMI
Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 36 - Paul Ingle vs Junior Jones
Jones had a really interesting career at bantam, super bantam and featherweight.
Just about anything could happen. I'd call his reign at bantam a kind of practise run. He peaked against Barrera and Canizales then it was downhill but he put up some brave and exciting showings against warriors McKinney and Morales at 122 who took big shots and waited till he tired before Blasting him out with right hands.
This fight with Ingle was after Jones' wild, desperation win over unheralded Richard Evatt
Really like Ingle in the McMillan (punch marathon) and Naz (awesomely brave rally before getting stopped late) fights. This was perhaps his most exciting and satisfying win at world level.
Great time for the liger weights, especially in Britain.

Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 36 - Paul Ingle vs Junior Jones
Was this not one of the last title fights that had a same day weigh in? I think I remember that the New York Commission insisted on it at the last minute. And it was felt that it was done to benefit Jones.

Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 36 - Paul Ingle vs Junior Jones
Great fight and an excellent performance across the pond for Ingle,it looked as though he might derail after being put down in the 9th after being in total control throughout but he showed grit and power to get Jones out of there, bit of a strange decsion from the ref when he gave the standing count,i suppose the ropes did keep Junior up but the way his head was being rocked back it merited a stoppage, either way at least Paul got the KO in the end

Re: 52 fight challenge: Week 36 - Paul Ingle vs Junior Jones
Irwin was having his best spell in the fight before Ingle rocked him and made him retire after the round, good turnaround from Paul,he looked decent to begin with although Jonjo allowed himself to be outworked despite shown some decent countering,he was better when he stood his ground more but credit to Ingle to stem the tide as it was shifting, you would never had Ingle down as a future world champ on that showing,he looked a solid domestic fighter

Ingle vs Jones
1. 10 - 9 Ingle. Head movement is often classed as defensive, but every slip, duck, feint, bob or weave is intended to get inside, around shots and close range.
2. 10 - 9 Ingle. Another decent round but not a lot landed clean. I wonder does anyone actually read all this stuff or am I talking to myself
3. 10 - 9 Ingle making Jones miss badly. I mean these threads are weeks old, no one even cares, keep up man.
4. 9 - 10 Good response from Jones. Ooh, there we go again, davie over analysing every round, who does he think he is, Nat Fleischer or Bert Sugar or something
5. 9 - 10 Jones just took this. I'd probably be as well posting my beef goulash recipe or my favourite song lyrics, maybe try my hand at poetry, what difference does it make.
6. 10 - 10 Close. Anyone see coronation street last night, Sarah and Todd round the back of the rovers, never saw that coming.
7. 10 - 9 Ingle. Maybe everyone does read these, the entire board may tune in religiously, perhaps I could use them to spread the word, make the world a better place
8. 9 - 10 Jones round. Nah, who are you trying to kid davie, no one reads this, your genius is underappreciated
9. 8 - 10 I bet most of them think you don't even watch the fights, you just waffle on trying to sound like you know what you're talking about
10. 10 - 9 I mean no ones actually going to ge back and compare your notes to the actual fight, just score the next one 10-6, who'll know
11. TKO. good finish by Ingle, what was Smoger doing with the standing count there?
95-95 at the time of the stoppage.
Good slick stuff from Ingle, perhaps not the action of some of the recent bouts.
Text book revovery from being dropped in the 9th. Made room for himself and got on his bike, gave himself time for his head to clear, then got back to work when he was ready. Hurt Jones at the end of the tenth then put it to bed in the 11th, leaving the judges no chance to give their opinion.
tune in next week folks

Yeah, I read it. Even if no one did you should write it anyway.davie wrote:Ingle vs Jones

The ropes kept Jones up, so Smoger was entitled to do the standing count thing.
I'd say the action in this fight was pretty good and entertaining. I can imagine this fight getting named in a few fight of the year discussions.

What you doing for your 52 week challenge next year?

I think that there are still enough major British & Irish fights left to justify doing the same thing again.davie wrote:Well thank eff for that Horse.
