Saunders, Jacobs and Canelo are really the only guys at Middleweight left for him...Eubank Jr. too would spark people's interest, but there's really not many other noteworthy Middleweights out there for him to fight.
I don't think that Golovkin is that much more avoided than most other world class fighters.
They all try to avoid each other unless they run out of easier options.
I don't think that Golovkin tries that hard to get the best opposition himself.

It makes the loss and stoppage seem a lot better than they would have.
I always thought when Canelo was proving he had the beating of all Welterweights at Caneloweight that Kell is the only one in the world i would give a realistic shot of winning.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:Wouldn't mind seeing Kell fight Canelo.

When you're completely dominant at a weight, not moving up looks like a lack of ambition. How would we view Duran now if he never went to welter? At welter and above he was vulnerable compared to the unbeatable Lightweight Duran, but the win over Leonard, the hell he gave Hagler, and the win over Barkley made his stature so much greater. Duran could have stayed at lightweight, but he ended up as one of the "Four Kings" despite losing 4 out of 5 against the rest. On the other hand, Hagler was made by smaller men moving up to face him.gilgamesh wrote:You're testing yourself by competing in the sport at all. It is a far worse risk vs reward fight for Alvarez.rossij8 wrote:Respect to the few of our guys who have stepped up to the plate
He tests himself every time he gets in the ring. Hagler didn't just fight legends. Minter, Fully Obel, Sibson, Skypion, Caveman Lee. Not exactly a killers row.SamWise72 wrote:Among people who like to see a fighter really test himself.gilgamesh wrote:Only among morons.SamWise72 wrote:
It's actually a knock on Hagler now, often, and when he was active there really wasn't a 168 to go to. 175 is a lot further, and yet he gets stick for the fact that his best victories post title win are against light middles, welters and a squeaker over a lightweight. If Golovkin never moves up, it will look like a lack of confidence.
It doesn't look that way to me. It looks like a fighter fighting at the weight he feels comfortable at. Duran's an absolute legend, and I think that would've been the case whether he moved up in weight or not frankly. Wins over Leonard and Iran Barkley when he was past his best weight and age don't hurt him though.SamWise72 wrote:When you're completely dominant at a weight, not moving up looks like a lack of ambition. That's exactly my point. The knock on Hagler is that he only fought legends from lower weights, and never stepped up. It's less fair, as I said, because Hagler didn't have 168 to go to, but after he beat the Philly fighters, his good opponents were all smaller guys. This is why I think GGG needs to move up sooner or later, rather than just welcome smaller guys.keithmoonhangover wrote:He tests himself every time he gets in the ring. Where are these people that knock on Hagler? I don't see many of them. Hagler usually gets nothing but the full respect of fight fans.SamWise72 wrote:That's exactly my point.
