Did you predict the wrong round?
I put a bet on Brook to get stopped between 7 and 12. I had a bit too much faith in his ability to absorb punishment against a naturally bigger man- who is also a big puncher of course. Anyway that's gambling for ya huh, it's a mugs game lol.

That was a fair sized old wager that. You must have been on the overtime or dipped into the savings for that...I used to like a bet in the boxing but I stopped years ago after coming to the realisation that I didn’t feel good making money off what these guys go through. Just my take on it.
The worst I got “done” was when I was robbed of about 300 in “winnings” on John McDermott v Fury.

What did you put £250 on?
Golovkin between 7-12. Too much faith in Brooks durability against a bigger guy and a very aggressive fighter to boot. If GGG had boxed like he did against Stevens or Lemieux I probably would have won the bet but he was on a seek and destroy mission tonight.

Easily done. After 6 rounds was not an unlikely outcome but I’d have been worried it would end sooner or even that Brook would extend him the distance.
At the end the day if Khan can take Canelo to 6 then you could see Kell doing the same here.

Well brook has always had a good chin on him so that's part of what gave me the faith he could make it into the second half of the fight. However, when Golovkin is on full on stalker mode like he was tonight it's extremely difficult to get into the second half of the fight.

Another thing I didn't properly take into consideration is that I don't believe Brook is the best mover in the world. I think both Munroe jnr who Golovkin has already beaten and Billy joe Saunders probably have a bit more mobility about them. However on the flipside they also have less power.

Based on what we saw tonight I'd say you got a better chance at beating GGG if you try to knock him out than you do trying to move and outbox him anyway. Golovkin is an excellent boxer in his own right, and is pretty great at cutting the ring off. I don't think anybody's gonna beat him by trying to outbox him. As crazy as it sounds the only way to beat Golovkin I think is to fight fire with fire and try to knock him out.

Hey by the way fellas. Did anybody else have Stuart Hall beating Lee Haskins? I personally scored that fight 115-113 Hall. I thought he won every round after the 5th, but Haskins dominated the first 5. How'd you fellas see that one? I'm too lazy to backtrack through the thread

I don't think Brook's movement was that much of a problem....it was more so his accuracy and speed in combo when he let his hands go. GGG's biggest problems have tended to come when an opponents stops trying to be evasive and instead finds some courage to let their hands go.

I didn't score it round by round but to me it felt like Hall did just a bit more . Haskins sure moved a lot and looked flashy, but I thought much of it was ineffective, especially down the stretch.

Yeah. I always interested in Golovkin vs Chavez jnr when he was still at 160 and rehydration to 180 or something.

I know Golovkin beat him up a bit in sparring though. However who knows what kind of shape Chavez jnr was in at the time. He's known for being a fat ass who barely trains lol whilst golovkin is true professional who stays around the same weight all the time.

I still would have favoured GGG but it would have been interesting anyway.

I had the same score. I text a mate in the Hall camp and Stuey didn't think he won. It was very close. I'd like to see a third.

He kept at a perfect distance at times, especially in the centre of the ring. He did his best work when he stood just out of range to block and miss most of Golovkins shots but be stayed close enough to be able to come in to land his combinations, which he threw at excellent angles with great variety. I'd love to have seen him fighting some of the WWs like that, pity he wasted so much time fighting stiffs.

Oh I don't think his movement was bad but he isn't quite as agile on his feet as a Munroe jnr or a BJS imo.

I find it odd that you'd have Rounds 10 and 12 for Haskins, but not the 5th which I thought was a clear round for him. But thanks anyway for showing me your score.

How do you guys think eubank jnr would have done if he was in there tonight instead of Brook? Lasted a bit longer or taken out in quicker fashion?

He probably would've done a bit better, and lasted longer. He's bigger so he'd have more firepower than Brook I'd imagine, and I get the feeling he'd fight a similar fight to Brook where he'd be willing to trade with Golovkin a little and would land big shots of his own on Golovkin. I think a fight between he and Golovkin would be fun, but GGG would ultimately break him down and stop him around the 9th or 10th round.

I'd like to see it.

Official card was UD 117-111, 115-113, 116-112.

I had Haskins up by 1pt, but very difficult to score. The betting market had Hall favourite at the end of the 12 rounds (he started as outsider). I could see it called either way. When the 117-111 card was called I knew it was for Haskins as only way Hall would win would be tight. I have to say I was expecting Haskins to nick it on a MD.

So much came down to ring generalship - did the judges like Haskins avoiding punches on the back foot in a Mayweather imitation or Halls aggression. There was a lot of clean nicely styled shots from Haskins but also some wild flailing misses. Hall wasn't showy but equally he was effective in much of his work. Haskins started most rounds with some good work which maybe caught judge eye. I have to say the typical hyperbole from the Sky commentary team (Rawlings) made the task of taking a view a bit difficult.

It was an interesting fight, and one that posed many questions but it would have been much better on a domestic card, rather than main supporting act for the PPV headline IMO.

Eubank ships a fair bit of punishment early, but lands a good few uppercuts. He spends far too much time on the ropes, which is where GGG brutalizes him for as long as it's allowed to last.

Yeah I agree- it would be a fun fight whilst it lasted. GGG could make another good payday coming over here to fight Eubank. They could play it up and nickname him the Brit basher or something  ...... I'd probably try and go and see it if got made.

From memory Hall finally started to throw a decent amount of punches in the 5th and was pushing Haskins back the whole round and landing the better shots.

In round 10 and 12 Haskins was throwing a decent amount of shots and catching Hall coming in. The 10th was very close, but I thought that the 12th was fairly clear.
