BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
I doubt it very much. Saunders seems to have no interest whatsoever in fighting Golovkin.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
He's already tweeted saying he's interested and called GGG BoreRat.gilgamesh wrote:I doubt it very much. Saunders seems to have no interest whatsoever in fighting Golovkin.

Well we'll see what happens. I don't really expect him to be true to his word, but I'd like to see the fight. I'd rather see GGG vs Jacobs or GGG vs Canelo first though.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:He's already tweeted saying he's interested and called GGG BoreRat.gilgamesh wrote:I doubt it very much. Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
Well, that settles it then. But, wouldn't it be easier on Saunders if he just ceded the victory for 3G? He could get hurt in there.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:He's already tweeted saying he's interested and called GGG BoreRat.gilgamesh wrote:I doubt it very much. Jacobs just won his rematch and he called GGG in the post. I had no idea that fight had already taken place because i was in GGG hype mode. He's a blimp on the radar atm. GGG is the king of middleweight attention.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
From what I saw tonight Jacobs has a punchers chance in round 1 and 2. He hits a ton harder than Brook and he could catch 3G early. No hope beyond that though.lazboy wrote:Jacobs just won his rematch and he called GGG in the post. I had no idea that fight had already taken place because i was in GGG hype mode. This is good news. That makes it an interesting fight. Hopefully it will happen. I also wouldn't mind seeing Sauders and Eubank but Saunders first. There are other options other than Diva Canelo which is great for boxing. I didn't see the Jacobs fight, hopefully i'll be able to find it. If you've noticed Jacobs power chances are so has GGG and Sanchez so he'll be more cautions like he was with Lemiuex. Still, good middleweight fight. Good for boxing, good boy.Tanzio wrote:From what I saw tonight Jacobs has a punchers chance in round 1 and 2. He hits a ton harder than Brook and he could catch 3G early. Did he tweet how much money will be enough to drag his fat ass into the ring with Golovkin ? I am pretty sure that he will soon tweet that they are not offering enough.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:He's already tweeted saying he's interested and called GGG BoreRat.gilgamesh wrote:I doubt it very much. BJS would be my 5th or 6th choice of opponent. I don't see him being as competitive as Brook was. He might last longer by moving more, but he'd be completely non-threatening.
Give me Jacobs, Canelo, or Lara.

I agree with Golovkin's choice. He needs that last belt in order to be able to move up when he wants and not having to come back down. The belt is the only reason to stay, as all 4 top potential opponents: Canelo, Jacobs, BJS and Eubank have already blatantly ducked GGG, so nobody doubts that he the man at MW.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
BJS can box you know, he certainly has the talent to put forward the same problems Kell did. BJS was a very good amateur boxer, he lacks power but is a middleweight.jujigatame wrote:BJS would be my 5th or 6th choice of opponent. I don't see him being as competitive as Brook was. I just don't see it. He barely beat Eubank who did nothing for the first half of the fight.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
He beat him hands down over the first six, and you say he did nothing but watch it back, BJS controlled him comfortably till he started to gas. He will not beat GGG, but he's talented enough to give him the problems Brook did, and he's a genuine middleweight so it could last longer.jujigatame wrote:I just don't see it. BJS is a pretty fleshy middleweight...I wouldn't be surprised if he could healthily make 154.
He's a crafty boxer, but I don't think he's as fast or quite as accurate as Brook. He could probably make GGG miss regularly, but I'm not sure if he'd have the type of eye catching offensive success that Brook did. I think he'd last longer, but in a more one-sided fight.

I think he could do 154 to. I think he is capable of offering what Brook did offensively, I don't think he will as I think he'll fight a different fight entirely.crusader wrote:BJS is a pretty fleshy middleweight...I wouldn't be surprised if he could healthily make 154.

Personally, if he is to fight another British fighter I'd like it to be Degale. He's clearly the number 1 middleweight, I'd like to see him go up and see how he fares at 168. Degale is a talented boxer and the power could be less of a factor.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
Degale would be an interesting opponent...I think he has the tools to beat GGG, but he spends an awful lot of time against the ropes and can be fairly lazy, which I don't think would serve him too well.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
No, but Degale seems to rise to the opponent. I think, as you say, the tools are there but if he's lazy he could lose it but I think he could do it. I'm a little bored of GGG at middleweight, he's been the best for a long time now, I'd like to see him fight fighters who maybe big enough to not be as awed by his power.
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
Sure, why not. GGG wants that last belt. Set it up for this December.
Would BJS take the fight or come up with another excuse?

It might happen, but it's not an interesting or competitive fight.

Yes please, hopefully GGG can knock out the prick BJS
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
GGG says he wants it. Saunders says he wants it.
It'll be pretty bad if it doesn't happen but then again, it's boxing, anything could happen.

Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
There are widespread rumours about Billy Joe Saunders rejecting an alleged $4m offer to take the GGG fight, which I believe were started by Dan Rafael. However, the Brit undermined these claims when he stated the sum being offered was only $1.5m. And I do believe that he is capable of earning a similar amount facing the likes of Canelo, Lee, Eubank Jr. etc.
In my mind, Tom Loeffler is going to have to pay a premium of at least $5m to motivate Saunders to sacrifice both his unbeaten record and the only remaining world middleweight title that GGG doesn’t own, in order to arrange a fight between the Brit and the Kazakh.
The problem though, is that Billy Joe Saunders is with Fwank Warren… and that promoter rarely engages in joint promotions with Matchroom, which means the bout won’t be televised and funded by SKY.
I don’t believe that Box-Nation/Warren has the coffers to fund such an expensive fight, if they wanted to stage it in the UK.
Also, due HBO’s boxing budget cuts, I don’t believe that network has the necessary funds to make this a “free-to-air” fight.
GGG’s low PPV buy-rate, coupled with the fact that Saunders is probably unknown to American viewers, means that Tom Loeffler is likely to be unwilling to fund a loss-making pay-per-view venture, much akin to Bob Arum’s financial hit when Top Rank funded the financially-disastrous Crawford-Postol PPV event.
Therefore, I believe that Billy Joe Saunders is more likely to eventually defend his title against the likes of Canelo or Chris Eubank after completing his next warm-up bout.
I would be pleased to be wrong though, as I’d like Golovkin to unify the middleweight division in his next fight by scoring a stoppage victory over Saunders en-route to adding the WBO belt to his collection.

Anyone interested in seeing Lara V Eubank?, GGG right away for Eubank is not wise. As for Saunders, he wont fight anybody let alone GGG. Always some excuse, holding onto his belt
Re: BJS VS GGG next or no ? *
Not sure if it has been said, but WBA just ordered GGG vs Jacobs, so it might be next.
