Brook vs Khan in 2017 ?

Post by kbackup408 »

Firstly, major respect to both Brook & Khan they stepped up in weight they failed but in my opinion gave a good account of their skills ...

If this fight is ever going to occur I think 2017 is realistic, Khan is not a big puncher and I feel he just wants to make some major £ and cash in on his big name !

What do you guys reckon am I being unrealistic ?

Convinced this will happen next summer at Wembley- can see Eddie building this up as the biggest domestic clash ever

I dunno mate. When it comes to boxing politics I think all of us are in the dark, it's such a murky business.

I do think Brook beats Khan though.

I see Brook not only beating Khan but stopping him in the second half of the fight ....

Khan is a smart business man he will be thinking to himself how many more "BIG PAYDAYs" do I have left he will easily get 7 figures fighting Brook

It doesn't interest me any longer.

It might still be an intuiging contest in theory, but if it were to get made, it would smack of a bit of desperation on both their parts.

I think the boat has sailed on Brook v Khan, but I remain to be convinced otherwise.

Khan's vanity wouldn't be able to endure a big crowd, huge ppv knockout loss to Brook. Won't happen.

Brook would almost certainly win - but hasn't that pretty much always been the consensus? If Khan had even an average chin I'd say it would be a roughly 50-50 fight, but as he sports perhaps the worst chin currently at world level, I'd make it 80-20 in favour of Brook.

I agree with that. It's a shame it won't happen.

Was he at the show last night?

They mentioned that he was in attendance, which surprised me, but I personally didn't see him chime in on cam at any point.

Hope it happens, but not so sure it does.

Brook looked in great shape at 160 and he was nearly 170 at the IBF check weigh in the following morning, and he looked solid. It going to take an awful lot out of him to make 147lbs again. He must be walking around at 180lbs plus.

Without using the most cliche phrase in boxing "It is what it is", I hope Kell drains himself back to 147 I really feel he has unfinished business in that division

Khan can't recover from a punch and even if he does his output drops, I think Brook stops him in the 2nd half !

Khan isn't a big puncher but you know what if the fight does happen your prob right 80-20 Brook

I don't think they'll fight because Brook will never see 147 again and Khan is too small for 154.

I'm 99% sure if all parties agreed Hearn would convince Brook to drain himself to 147 I mean it would be his biggest pay day by a big shot !

I think this will happen next up. If I was Brook I'd chase the little prick but it seems the most logical step for both.

I don't think Khan Brook is as attractive as it once was.

Kell has a whole plethora of top class opponents to choose from at 154 if he's serious about proving himself at the very top level and there are big domestic clashes against the likes of BJS and Smith if he wants to take easier fights for big paydays.

I think Hearn overestimates the market for boxing among casual sports fans in this country. I seriously doubt whether Khan Brook fills Wembley which Eddie has been banging on about for years. I'd be surprised if your average sports fan had even heard of Kell Brook before this weekend.

You make a very, very, fair point I from first hand experience felt this at a pub when I watched the bout with a group of friends most of them didn't know who Kell was and if even if they did couldn't name his last few fights

Eddie has a talent where he over spices everything I don't think Brook vs Khan sells out Wembley it would cost about 700k to rent the stadium and I think the ceiling for this fight would be max 30,000

I think a UK fight needs a special selling point to fill a footy stadium.

Froch Groves 2 - the bad blood between them and the perceived injustice of the 1st fight

Haye Chisora - the Munich brawl

The only other one I can think of that filled a big ground in recent years was when Hatton fought at City's ground and he was a special case.

But as you say Eddie never knowingly undersells anything so it's not inconceivable that they might meet in a mega fight one day
