Canelo vs Brook
Canelo vs Brook
If Canelo comes through against Smith next weekend- does anyone else have a feeling that they might try and make Canelo vs Brook? They being golden boy. I reckon they might because it would give them some kind of gauge of where they're at in relation to Golovkin and how he dealt with Brook. Would be a risky fight if they did though.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
I think Brook could beat Canelo. I hope that fight happens. I can't imagine Khan being able to last 6 round against GGG, like he did against Alvarez. It would be 1 or 2 rounds tops, but probably 1 round. GGG is a league above Alvarez.
Re: Canelo vs Brook
Thing is, what gain is there for Alvarez?
Brook may have boxed well but he's one of many victims in Golovkin's big KO streak.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
Brook's profile around the world will have been raised. He proved himself to be a top draw fighter who comes to win and was giving Golovkin all sorts of problems, which no one else has ever done, so people will want to see him again. Alvarez should want to try and make a statement. I felt Kell was the best welterweight in the world (with the exception of Mayweather when he was fighting), and feel that he is the best light middleweight. That was a proper world class fight last night. I don't think it is fair to say that Brook is just another KO victim by Golovkin, as that doesn't cover it.Autobarn wrote:Thing is, what gain is there for Alvarez?

Re: Canelo vs Brook
Alvarez v Brook might a good contest in principle, but it offers Canelo nothing.
Alvarez has ducked Golovkin already & it would only open him up to even more ridicule if he was to start feasting on Golovkin's leftovers.
Nobody wants to see that; they want to see him fight Golovkin.

Canelo doesn't bring the same intensity as GGG but I still don't think Brook can last 12 rounds with him.

The thing with Alvarez is that we haven't seen him against someone roughly his equal in size, ability and power, and we don't know how intense he would be under those circumstances. You can bet he wouldn't be charging on like he did vs Khan if Brook was opposite him. I think it would make it more a.boxing type contest, and I think Brook would do well in it.

The KO King Golovkin starts connecting and the towel is thrown in at the best bit.
Doubt HBO have any interest in him.

Hearn said exactly the oppsite after the fight.Autobarn wrote:

Canelo gets severely underrated on here nowadays. Hes a very good fighter. Would beat brook. And will take care of smith without too much trouble next week.
Even at 154 brooks gonna find it difficult staying the distance with the bigger men. Theres a reason their all manipulating the scales.
Brook should have stayed at 147. A weight he ll struggle to get back down to effectively now. Whats khan saying now sure he claimed that kell had to fight some big names before he ll get in the ring with him...doesnt come much bigger than golovkin.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
I think Canelo would stop him in the mid rounds. Brook is a Welterweight and nothing can convince he isn't. He was about to fight Vargas few months ago.
Re: Canelo vs Brook
I don't know if Brook was the best at 147 bit it was between him, Thurman and Spence jnr.big lennox wrote:Brook's profile around the world will have been raised. 154 is a hard ass division though as outside of Canelo, you have Lara, Julian williams and my favourite at 154 and maybe the best- demetrius Andrade. I'd love to see Kell in with all/any of those guys.
I don't care much for the Charlo brothers though. I think they're pretty mediocre.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
I don't think Alvarez takes the fight. He now knows 2 things, 1 Brook can box well, 2 he can take a heavy punch. He knew 1 of those against Khan and that he didn't have the be the biggest puncher in the world to stop Khan so odds were in his favour. When you throw in that we all now know that Brook can make 160 so not a small welter trying to make 154, I don't see anything to gain from him fighting KB. Also when he fails to win as quickly as GGG did - I'm not even sure Brook wouldn't win that fight so I'm saying when not if - there's another thing for people to kick him over. Having already put both feet and half of each leg in his own mouth with that nonsense about not f^^^ing about etc then the last thing they'll do is put Alvarez in the position where he can make himself look bad again.
Personally I think this is a 50-50 fight if Brook heals well from the Golovkin fight.

I think Brook vs Canelo would be an amazing fight that Brook could win. 154 is the weight for Brook now he's struggled too long at 147.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
If brook had been blitzed in a couple of rounds I'm sure it would have been made but I don't think they'll like the fact he landed big shots on GGG.
Brook might get through that cotton wool they have him wrapped up in

British and Amrican, totally different responsesBigDoofus wrote:Hearn said exactly the oppsite after the fight.Autobarn wrote:

British focus on Brook, bravery
American focus on GGG, the KO King, "early finish", unsatisfactory ending etc etc. They want him to stretch guys out.
Re: Canelo vs Brook
Here's the issue no one mentioned.
And weirdly no one has foreseen.
Brook's career has been stalled by injuries and now he has broken eye socket etc.
Still blighted, still losing ground.
If you can stand up two shots by someone two weights above, don't expect everything to hold up physically, something has to give. Precedent, Eubank v Thompson 1 and 2

Re: Canelo vs Brook
People are getting too carried away with Brooks performance, so many people getting hard son's because he landed a decent left hook.
He done well in the second round mainly be cause it shocked GGG as he was expecting him to box and move and probably cut a few corners in camp for this fight.
It was still a easy nights work for GGG no matter what Eddie's magic scorecards said. Just because he looked semi decent in a loss againts the number one middleweigh does not mean he moves down to light middle and clears up.
The Charllo Brothers and Andrade aswell as Lara would all pose a serious threat to Kell , never mind Canelo.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
Leaving aside that there are some things you're saying as fact about what happened in the fight that are no less assumptions than anything the rest of us are saying. An easy night for Golovkin is 1-2 rounds not the fight he did have. He still had to work and take shots against a fighter who had blurred vision. No one is saying Brook automatically cleans up at LM. What we're all saying is the confidence of what he was able to do and take against the top middle should mean he can take these guys on. Yes the top fighters are a threat, they are in every division to the other fighters in that division, the difference is now Brook has started to show he can bring something to this level and has a genuine place in the top half dozen at LM. The only thing we're all pushing at in terms of Alvarez is that Brook no longer fits the bill of someone he has big advantages over so there is a good chance the fight wouldn't be made.Fitzy901 wrote:People are getting too carried away with Brooks performance, so many people getting hard son's because he landed a decent left hook.

Re: Canelo vs Brook
yeah? I'm surprised, as I've been told the HBO broadcast were unhappy and figured the behind the scenes guys wouldn't be too chuffed either.BigDoofus wrote:"Peter Nelson (executive president of American television network HBO) has already come up to me and said: 'We need to talk about Kell Brook'," said Hearn. Been talking to American friends and who think Brook is apussy with a get out clause agreed with his corner, etc etc.
Hope the deal works out, that Brook is in the light middle mix, wins a major fight at his ideal weight and isn't too injured to capitalise.
But I remain sceptical. Shoulda beaten Vargas impressively, faced Spence and waited for Bud Crawford to move up.
I'm a Brook supporter, I go to the fights (local) but I have a bad feeling the momentum is killed for good. Hope I'm totally wrong.
Injured - yet again. And what if the next opportunity is also the "wrong" fight?
Re: Canelo vs Brook
So what's the plan for Alvarez?
Is he saying he's not a middleweight?
Will be hard for him to make 154 for Smith. Won't have much in the tank.

Did they think he had a clause where he agreed to get his eye socket smashed ? !Autobarn wrote:
