With GGG fighting a welterweight and canelo fighting a welterweight with a suspect chin i think its time for them to give away a few advantages and GGG step up to 168lb after canelo steps up to 160 and has a fight with GGG. They are calling the shots getting boxers from lower weight divisions to step up one or two weight divisions to fight them. I know eddie hearn offered them brook but they should of said "no he is welter" they know they would get slated after it so why did GGG camp take the fight? Its rediculous. I think GGG's solid record is very important to him, He has said thats my weight division and i will fight anyone in it , If people want to come up , or some want to come down then fine ,, but other than that i fight ANYONE in my weight division , I don't know but i get the feeling its the mindset of fighters from that side of the world ,, Kosta was the same , he was in a weight division and stuck to it

I don't see why Golovkin has to do anything here. Brook took the fight because Hearn offered it to him because Eubank found excuses not to take it. Alvarez talked big about fighting then dumped the belt and decided to go elsewhere. BJS talks but doesn't sign. It isn't Golovkin who is dragging a WW into it, the fault lies with the other MW title holders who want to talk but not deliver. And as for moving up, Golovkin hasn't called on Alvarez to move up, Alvarez chose to claim he was the MW champion of the world, whilst refusing to fight the best MW out there and refusing to fight at the weight. Ward is looking at LHW now anyway so that has moved the gap from 8 to 15lbs so why would Golovkin go after him? For the record I think Golovkin would beat DeGale much same as he ground down Murray. I suspect he'd beat most of the SMW fighters but I wouldn't argue if anyone chose to say it is an unknown.

GGG will probably be forced to step up in weight. But the reality is he is a small middle weight and hence understandably reluctant to do so. Eubank JR, Murray and a lot of other m/w's are bigger he could probably make lmw.

Might be a sign of how things have gone, I wouldn't really view Golovkin as a small MW so much as a fighter who is a genuine MW, whereas some of the others are coming down to MW. But then maybe GGG's camp etc are so good at the weight that he is keeping himself around that weight and could adjust to higher or lower.
